Melina Marchetta creates a wonderful work of literature "Looking for Alibrandi", and conveys feelings of young woman who longs for emancipation. At Christina's birthday Josephine (the main heroine) understands that it was not possible that Francesco be Christina's biological father, since he was absent for the holidays. Josephine then has a fight Katia over this, and run from the house. She says that she in not absolutely sure why she hates Marcus Sandford as well as Nonna for things they did. She had been convinced their story was dreamy. She had been convinced that nothing had occurred. He was like a myth Josie could at all times dream about. Her mother, however, is the reality. Her actuality was living along with a male who hated her for some action her mother did. Following recognizing that she wasn't any more angry at Katia, Josephine goes in order to speak to her, and realizes that staying in the company of Francesco, rather than leaving with Marcus, was just for Christina's benefit, but not her own. She claims that those years spent without Christina or him when he was a baby was her punishment. Josephine realizes the pain Katia came through, and understands that Katia cares for her, as well as Christina, more than something else. Josephine has always looked upon her Italian background and culture like a burden, however as the year goes on, she gets a better understanding of this, and eventually recognizes that this is part of her life. Since the beginning of this year, and possibly before then, Josephine regards her culture as some sort of things that will prevent her from being somebody she craves to be, as well as doing what she wishes to do. Moreover, she regards it as the something that holds her back from being similar to the others who study at her school.
