I have put together a quick list detailing some of the main problems which many women find with their bras. These are problems which many women might feel they experience alone, so if nothing else this article will perhaps help women to realize that many other women struggle in just the same way.
Hopefully this article will be enlightening for you, and if you can't find the solution you were looking for then don't be disheartened, this list is by no means definitive.
Feel free to get in touch with me and I will do my best to help, you can find details of my website in the resources link at the bottom.
So without further ado, let's look at some of the common problems which many women might have at one time or another with their bra fitting.
Issue 1:
One cup fits just right, but the other is too small / big:
If one cup is too small you will find that part of your breast spills over the top of the cup, you should have a smooth silhouette when wearing a correctly fitting bra. If the cup is too big then the cup will seem 'baggy' (when standing still and upright)
All women have one breast larger than the other. Even if it is not noticeable, the fact is that nature is not symmetrical. But for women who have a big bra size the difference can be more noticeable, and perhaps therefore been seen as a problem.
There, are a handful of solutions though, which above anything else will make you feel more comfortable, since you should still be able to get the support you need from your bra.
Firstly, try a padded bra. This will make the difference less noticeable and make you feel more comfortable.
A better option though, especially if the first suggestion doesn't help, is to get a goo bra which is fitted for the larger breast. A full cup style might work best, but a plunge bra should be ok too. Now purchase a pair of gel pads (usually used to enhance the bust and make it look larger) and use one in the cup with the smaller breast.
This should fill the rest of the cup and make you feel much more comfortable and supported.
Issue 2:
Bra strap rides up in the back:
Many women have a larger back size than they need, in fact this is probably the most common problem. Try hooking your bra on a tighter setting, also - loosen the straps. Otherwise try buying at least one back size smaller, you might also find you need a larger cup size, as the cups will generally be smaller in the smaller back sizes.
Issue 3:
Bra is digs in and pinches when you move:
Either your bra is too tight, your back size is too small or the sides of your bra are too narrow for your figure.
So try loosening your bra, or perhaps try a larger back size. Otherwise you might just need a better quality bra, so just experiment a little, not all bras will feel right for everyone.
A sling bra might be a good option, as these tend to be softer. They use a clever shape to enhance support for a more snug fit.
Issue 4:
Straps keeping coming off of shoulders:
This doesn't necessarily mean your straps are too loose. If tightening the straps doesn't work, don't just keep making them tighter as this will just cause discomfort. Your cup size may be too big. The cups of a bra need to be filled properly so that they hold the correct shape and put the right amount of tension on the straps, which will in turn hold the straps in place.
I recommend buying 2 or 3 different bra sizes, experiment and find out what works best. Narrower straps might help if you happen to have narrow shoulders.
Issue 5:
I have stretch marks at the top of my breasts:
Stretch marks can be caused by a lack of support, this is very common for women with a larger bra size.
Breakdown of tissue due to lack of support may cause breasts to sag, creating stretch marks.
You need to find out your true bra size (around 8 in 10 women are thought to be wearing the wrong bra size to some extent) in order to make sure you are getting the best support, and make sure that you get a good high quality supportive bra.
Stretch marks will heal in time, they may never completely fade (depending on your age and the extent of the damage) but they will certainly improve if you give them the chance.
I recommend visiting my site and reading the articles on fitting, there is a lot to go through, but it will be well worth it for you.
Of course you might also consider going to get professionally fitted, which is just as good and isn't really as scary as you might think.
I hope this article has helped anyway, I will do my best to to write more on this subject, because I know it is an important topic.
