Coming up with successful ways of generating web site traffic can be very difficult. Thats why it is easier to take methods that already work and just improve on them. There's a saying that is used in internet marketing; you don't have to reinvent the wheel, you just have to improve it. That means you do not have to come up with a revolutionary technique, as there are plenty of other great ways to begin driving traffic to web site.
If you have just started trying to generate web site traffic, then you need to take it slow. Jumping in and trying to tackle every aspect can quickly discourage & overwhelm you. If you like the challenge, that's fine, more power to you. However, it will be much easier if you start out small and then work your way up.
The most efficient way of finding a self-sustaining traffic technique is by using the "trial and error" method. You won't really know what technique works the best unless you try and use each and every one.
If you find a method that works and brings in a decent amount of free traffic hits, then keep using & improving that method the best you can. Create & Distribute a free Ebook- Write a short-medium length Ebook, put your links in it, and start giving it away. Allow others to give it away too and it will spread like wildfire.
Trade Links- Trade your link with other web sites. Doing this will get you backlinks and a nice amount of targeted site traffic. Don't go overboard though! You want visitors to stay at your site; you don't want them to be tempted to leave.
Go Viral- Create a short video (instructional, funny, scary, etc.), place your link in it, and submit it to web sites (such as YouTube). If the video has informational value or is amusing in any way, it will likely spread far and wide across the net.
Buy Targeted Web Site Traffic- It may not be free, but its easy. There are numerous sites that charge a fee to drive traffic to your site. By using keywords and a specific topic, they will make sure your site gets nothing but quality traffic (usually).
These are only some of the great ways to begin driving traffic to a web site. As you get more advanced in field of traffic generation, you will learn more and be able to do more. Then again, if you just sit around doing nothing, you will get nothing.
