XsitePro website building software is becoming increasingly popular with both experienced webmasters and those new to building websites. One of the main reasons for this is the ease and speed at which you can create and publish a site from scratch using Xsite Pro.
Having built a couple of dozen websites using different brands of WYSIWYG web design software - and knowing how long it can take to build a site from scratch, even using the highest quality 'traditional' software like Dreamweaver - I thought I would set myself a little challenge using XsitePro. I decided to see how quickly I could build and publish a ten page website from start to finish - and record it in real time for posterity.
Here is what I did in preparation for the experiment:
1) Registered a domain name relevant to my niche and pointed the DNS records to my hosting provider, and made sure there was a directory visible to upload the files.
2) Procured 10 articles themed around my site topic and rewrote them in order to add my own personal style.
3) Created my own XsitePro template specific to the site's theme (I did not consider this 'cheating', since XsitePro comes bundled with a lot of pre-made templates, so anyone doing this experiment for themselves has plenty of XsitePro templates to choose from, or can buy custom made XsitePro templates from a number of sources). This template also contained some simple CSS code in the head tag to format the color and font size/styles for H1, H2 and paragraph tags.
Then I was ready for battle to commence....
Here is a very brief breakdown of events:
In the projects page I selected "add new site >> from template", picked my pre-made xsitepro template from the list and then filled in the general information and keywords for my site.
For each of the ten pages of this site, I selected "add page" and then filled in the specific keywords and descriptions based upon the article theme and finally pasted the articles into the appropriate pages. The title text of each article was set as H1 and sub headings were set as H2.
That was, essentially, the site completed. I added the publishing info and clicked "publish". It wasn't entirely that simple, as I did make a couple of hiccups, which can be seen on the warts'n'all video..
So, how long did it take me to have a fully functioning website? About 28 minutes - how about that! As I mentioned, I recorded the entire proceedings and published the video on my own website (sped up so that viewing it takes less than 10 minutes - but there is a timestamp on the screen to show nothing has been edited out) so visitors can see the power of XsitePro for themselves.
