Without a doubt, the best place to register domain names is at GoDaddy.com. They have become the largest ICANN accredited registrar even surpassing Network Solutions in domain name registrations. GoDaddy has won many awards for their service but their main appeal is the low cost of registering domain names and their growing range of products. Domains for .com begins at $8.95 per domain but can be further reduced by discounts. (See section 2 below on where to find GoDaddy discount coupons). With every domain, they will throw in a quick blog, online photo album, email, getting started guide and much more.
1. How to register a domain name with GoDaddy
Go to www.godaddy.com and enter your domain name in the Domain Search box. You don't need to enter the .com or .net extension. GoDaddy will search all available extensions and will even suggest alternative domain names if your first choice is not available.
After you have found your domain name, GoDaddy will try to upsell you all kinds of add ons to your domain name. Just click No thanks, continue to checkout .. Even then, be vigilant, GoDaddy will still try to tempt you with more offers. Keep looking for the No thanks or quick checkout option.
Once at the checkout, you can pay by all the major credit cards, check or Paypal.
2. Where to find GoDaddy discounts
One of the best things I like about GoDaddy is the steep discounts you can find online. You find get 10%, $5 of $30 deals, $2 off .com domain names, $6.95 .com registration, etc. To find these happening deals, just do a search in Google for "godaddy coupons" or "godaddy discount". Most of the discounts are time limited, so keep searching until you find a valid one.

3. What to do after you register a domain name.
Registering a domain name is just the first step. You still need to host it on a web server somewhere. It's like registering a company name. You will still need an office space to work from. GoDaddy's free started webpage, quick blog and photo album is fine for a hobby site but if you want to conduct serious business on the internet, you need a dedicated web host provider.
If you are just registering a single domain name, you can use Godaddy's hosting services. But if you are thinking of getting and hosting several domain names, you better off getting a web host provider than allows you to host several domain names at once. We'll talk more on this in the next part of the Practical Internet Marketing series ...
