Seven steps to make money on myspace
Brought to from make money online
I have only one myspace page and it does well for me in driving traffic to my other site. But I've noticed that several people have tried to join the "viral marketing" game and are going about it all wrong. So I am putting up some rules and tips [ seven to be exact].
1. Make friends: here is a given, people who go on myspace for business will not buy or even think about what you want to sell or promote. So your goal is to make friends [ I use the word friends loosely - I would say: myspace acquaintance ] You have to build a sort of trust and social friendship.
2. Keep your myspace page load friendly: it's fun to add all these cool interactive tools to your page. People spend hours on the net trying to find the right background. But what people forget is load time. Just like any website - people don't spend more than 27 seconds waiting for a page to load. Lets be honest - I don't even visit my own families myspace page because the loading time takes forever.
3. Nice, clean, crisp look: I have this friend who loves her nationality. So like most people on myspace she plastered her page with all these graphics showing her national pride. But after taking way to long to load - I was blinded by all the strong bright colors and confused by all the moving text on the screen. Make your site nice, but keep it simple, clean, so people will stay and don't run away in confusion.
4. Readable text: this goes hand in hand with number three. I've noticed that people are driven to use all these cool add ons and tools to make their site look nice. But they forget that some people want to read whats on your site. Some people even like reading the comments in your site. When picking a background or a layout, even if you want to use scrolling text - consider this: "if I can't read your sales picth - I will never buy from you".
5. Have a message: Myspace is known for confusion. You open a page up and there's music, pictures, floating text, or worst - no personal text on the page. The goal is to sell a product - and you need to build trust [ with new myspace friends] with those who visit your site. If your visitor is overwhelmed by all these distractions they will lose site of your sales picth. Also, place personal content in the know me spaces. Real information so you can build that trust.
6. You had me at hello: how do you build traffic on myspace - well, by visiting other sites and asking to be one. Some sites allow you to place a comment even if your not a friend. But what many are doing is using the comment space to put cheap ads. I say cheap ads because no one wants to hear a sales pitch when they really only want to hear you say "hello". ** here's a tip - if you spam people, they will drop you as a friend. Plus - the more myspace people see these cheap spam ads, the more their driven to leave having an open comment box and opt for the "approve" comment deal.
7. Drive off site: you should use any "viral marketing" site as a means to drive traffic to your site [ be it a affiliate site, monetize site, or other ]. If you try to build a myspace site that has a bunch of banner ads, links, and so forth - people will see that your their for one thing - yourself. let's be honest -We all know that people are self absorb and want to believe that your their for them...
It takes a little work but you can successfully use Myspace and any like kind site to promote a product or site using "viral marketing". And I hope this is no surprise to you, but you have to use your myspace page. I know people who build a page and never go back. Then they wonder why their friend list doesn't grow.
