Microsoft to Buy Yahoo?

The breaking news from CNBC : Microsoft attempts to try and buyout Yahoo. Calling Yahoo to come back to the table.....
I don't know if this is a sign of weakness from the part of Microsoft who has yet been able to give Yahoo or Google any real competition. Always playing third fiddle and never really catching up to Yahoo , much less Google.

Will it make sense to us the average user for Yahoo and Microsoft to come together?

I don't think so.....

Microsoft does not seem to be on the ball when it comes to the internet. Microsoft's has a "separatist" mentality when it comes to dealing with Google. This will effect how users who love Yahoo for it's initiative and desire to expand [ especially compete with Google] will be disenfranchised and disappointed if Microsoft gobbles up Yahoo and continues to shun webmasters and others who like Google's tools and services like Adsense, maps, and etc.

I like Microsoft products and I even open up a free website provided by Microsoft once. What I learned was that Microsoft had so many hindrances and restrictions when it came to applying any tools from Yahoo or Google on the website given by Microsoft. Soon I realized that I was trapped. All the functions I was presented with on Microsoft was confining - meaning I could only use what they allowed. Also, I never liked AOL because they tried to keep you locked to their site - this is also what Microsoft does. And the internet is suppose to be open, free, nonrestrictive - and I like so many webmaster like to have control and freedom.

I hear that Yahoo has stated that it is not interested and I hope that Yahoo continues to do so. Besides - consolidation maybe good for business people - but bad for consumers. Less competition - more monopoly control thrown upon the consumer.
