Maharashtra is one of the popular tourist destinations of India famous for its beaches, hill stations, historic monuments, pilgrimage destinations, forts and palaces. It is a land of sheer diversity which calls on large number of tourists throughout the year. This place has a number of pilgrimage destinations which invites tourists as well as devotees from across the globe. These sacred destinations are the best way to feel the religious vibes of this state. Nasik

This beautiful town is a popular Hindu pilgrimage centre with rich culture and tradition. According to Hindu holy scripture Ramayana Lord Rama stayed here with his wife Sita and brother Laxmana during their exile. It is situated on the banks of holy river Godavari. There are many beautiful ghats along the river bank which are used for several religious purposes. This holy town is also known for its scenic landscapes of Sahyadri mountain ranges. The popular religious attractions of this place are tapovan, sita gumpha, ramkund, gandhi memorial, naroshankar temple and modakeshwar.

Mahabaleshwar

Mahabaleshwar is a picturesque hilly resort situated at an altitude of 1372 meters above sea level amidst the majestic mountain ranges of Western Ghats. It is famous across the globe for its exhilarating ambiance which enthrall tourists during their visit to this place. Mahabaleshwar temple is the foremost attractions of this place which is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. Temple is divided into two halls inner room and the outer room. The inner home is a sanctum sanctorum where deity is placed in the form lingam which is made up of black stone.

Nanded

This is another popular religious and historical destination of Maharashtra situated in the Marathwada region. It is renowned across the globe for the Sikh Gurudwara. In 1708 Guru Govind Singh the tenth spiritual leader of the Sikh came here and made this place as his permanent abode. The Gurudwara was constructed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh on the place where he died. This religious place is visited in large number by Sikh devotees and people of different sects and castes.

Shirdi

Shirdi is one of the popular pilgrimage destinations of India situated in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. This place was an abode of the charismatic saint Shri Saibaba. Millions of devotees irrespective of their castes and creed come here throughout the year for several religious purposes.
