With Boulder Walk and Bike to Work month quickly approaching, (don't forget to sign up to bike/walk!), Amadeus Consulting was really excited to see another bike project launch this past week.
Boulder B-cycle, the latest incarnation of the B-cycle bike-sharing program, rolled out of the gates this past Friday. B-cycle is a bike-sharing program unlike any other. Not only is B-cycle the first nation-wide bike-sharing program, it is also the first to have technology and kiosks that are completely self-sustainable. Interestingly enough Alex Bogusky mentioned that before B-cycle spread like wildfire across the country the idea had originally been intended for Boulder alone. One year after the launch of Denver B-cycle, Boulder got its own system.
As Amadeus Consulting developed the entire enterprise technology system for B-cycle (from kiosk software, user web services to mobile app development), it was incredibly exciting for us to see the product of our efforts in our own back yard. Because we are a custom software development company that works with clients all over the world, we often do not get to see the implementation of our software in person. Years of thought, planning and development went into the custom software behind B-cycle, and Amadeus Consulting is enormously proud of our efforts.
We fancy Mother Nature is a bike-sharing fan, because the recent rain storms cleared up and gave us a cold but sunny morning to launch Boulder B-cycle. Many Amadeus Consulting team members braved the early morning to ride bikes from the roof of the 15th Street to their designated B-station. Our team rode to the B-station closest (and fittingly) next to Chipotle Mexican Grill, an Amadeus Consulting favorite. The excitement of riding the red and shiny new B-cycles was hugely exciting for all those involved in the inaugural ride. Check out some of our favorite pictures from the Boulder B-cycle launch.
The exciting thing about Boulder B-cycle launching this month is it will make Boulder Walk and Bike to work month even easier for Boulder citizens. Riders can take advantage of the 15 B-Stations around Boulder to easily get from place-to-place. Plus they are really fun to ride. So let's lead this Walk and Bike to work month with nothing less than the beautiful red bikes of Boulder B-Cycle!
