People, who watch the film "Mean Girls" by Mark Waters, can see a lot of connections and similarities between this film and novel "Walking Naked" written by Alyssa Brugman. These two very similar teenage stories depict some realities of life and adventures of the teenagers in a similar ways. Both stories tell about issues, that one teenage girl faced in high school and those events are depicted from very like sides. For many centuries and in every generation, power was something that nearly everyone wants. It does not matter whether it is overwhelmed control or not, everyone tries to be more powerful than they are. In the novel "Walking Naked" Candice, the best friend of Megan has the power, but they all want to possess it. Everyone wants to be at the top of the hierarchy and Megan does not want to lose everything for what she was working so hard; she does not want to step down the ladder. Perdita is a real threat to the position of Megan and she does not want to give her power to Perdita. Practically the same situation can be seen in the movie, when Candy becomes the member of "The Plastics" not only having the aim to help her friends, but to gain respect and recognition. She wants to be respected by her fellow students. Both girls do not understand that gaining recognition and glory this way they may be rejected by the others, as it happened in case with Megan, when she began to fall out with Perdita. Having power does not mean having respect among the others. Later both heroines will understand it, but it would be too late, as they would lose all their friends.
