If you did not experience praise and support when you were a child, that would negatively impact your self image. Our parents and teachers have a big impact on us during our formative years. Our friends and schoolfellows likewise affect our self concept. Early experiences of low self worth can create life-long beliefs.

The first step towards bettering how you feel about yourself is to decide to do something about it. Being educated on confidence will help you feel more sure of yourself. Changes like this occur little by little and require tenacity. Perseverance is very crucial, taking it slowly but sleadily. You start by evaluating your thought processes. As you run through your day, note your feelings carefully. Soon enough, you will see the scope of your specific thought processes. You have to see what you are working with so you will know what you need to do.

Some techniques are available to work with. Your overall outlook is a great starting point. Instead of thinking nothing you do proves to be correct, or is successful, then set out with that. Make it a pattern to replace each bad thought you notice with a positive one. In addition, it is very helpful to take a few minutes and do the following mental workout. Ask yourself what is right about what happened. You will for sure find something that was good. You can choose the tiniest thing to feel great about. Anticipate more great things to feel optimistic about.

Noticing what's good will shortly come easy for you. You can begin to create a totally new attitude. Through constant practice you could pick up new ways of thinking.
