Self Help: The HOW Towards the Realization of a Fulfilling, Liberating Life

(Fri Apr 29th, 2011, by Sharen Scott)

The Human Reality

Human reality is a very unique and deeply significant process. We as human beings need to "dance" between two dimensions - between the dimension of time and the dimension of the eternal, the dimension of the mind and the dimension of the divine. This is what makes our lives so very challenging, because we find ourselves between these two natural factors and consequently the polarity and the dynamism created by them.  To find the right at-one-ment in our life requires a process of discovering, learning, ripening and flowering.

The reality we live in our day-to-day lives is actually a dream-like reality.  It is like a state of intoxication! To find the balance in life we need to bring a subtle kind of remembrance that forms a bridge between the duality of this world and the non-dualistic dimension of the spirit or divine dimension.

It is often said: "Yes, we have heard, read and thought about these aspects, but how to internalize it, that is what we want to know." These reminders offer the "how" and provide one of the most excellent and effective opportunities for those who want to assimilate and live out a deeper understanding.

From the perspective of the world, the place where we look at everything of the manifest creation through the mind, life is experienced as a process of duality.  Hidden behind is the unknown, the invisible, the creator. From a deeper, more conscious reality, however, we realize that there is no duality; that this creation is only an aspect of the "one reality." If we encounter reality from that state, we use a different approach.

In the first approach, the one with the dualistic perception, there is the concept of humans being here below on earth and of God being in heaven above.  This is what most religions believe. The remembrance of this viewpoint becomes possible through prayer and a prayerful way of life. From the spiritual basis which comes from the reality of the essence to find balance and being fulfilled in life, humans need to remember their true selves and come consciously in touch with the nature of their innermost reality; their essence, which is unfathomable and wondrous.

So either way, in the form of prayer or in the form of an appeal to the higher self, reminders are required so that there can be a conscious bridging between the two dimensions of the manifest and the un-manifested; between the "dream-like world" and the "non-dualistic essence" of the true reality.

There is a forgetfulness which comes from our preoccupation with peripheral goals and roles and fixation with the dual.  It is necessary, then, to deliberately and consciously immerse ourselves in these reminders, either in the form of a prayer or as an appeal to our higher self. We need to do this so that these basic understandings and insights can be practiced, assimilated and ultimately brought into our living reality.

Both the approaches, when rightly practiced, will lead towards the deeply fulfilling and liberating experience of our essential reality. Without the right recognition, the right remembrance, and the right awareness of the nature of our reality, we humans easily get lost in all kinds of misunderstandings and wrong interpretations.  Rather than living creatively, intelligently, and lovingly, we tend to slip easily into and ultimately get trapped in a power-oriented, controlling, forceful, destructive, unloving and inhuman way living our lives.

We are at a period in the development of the world when it is very decisive and necessary to bring "the remembrance" as deeply as possible by every sensible individual. You will benefit whether you are religious or mystical or are without any particular religious and spiritual direction in life as long as you live as intelligently, alertly and openly as possible.  Even if you don't categorize yourself in any way, you can benefit. Everyone can contribute to this force by embedding these reminders into their daily living.

This is what we will be working with during the coming "intense period of awareness." There are ten reminders that are meant to be brought consciously into our recognition and eventually assimilated and lived. These reminders are to be used in the following way.  First, write down each reminder on a separate notecard.  Next, for every hour you are awake, take some time to focus on each reminder, one at a time.  For example, if you start your day at 9 o'clock, then from 9 o'clock onward, for every full hour, for ten hours, take one reminder at a time, read it, be with it and let it work on you. Feel it, assimilate it by allowing a little space in you, and stay with it with an open conscious.  Sit silently with this reminder as if you are taking an elixir for life; sip by sip.  Do these with the remaining reminders.   Allow this method to become deep nourishment for your flowering.
