Self Help: How to Prevent Panick Attacks

(Thu Apr 28th, 2011, by Philip White)

A panic attack is an awful and gruesome attack of sudden and overwhelming fear that appears from nowhere without a person knowing it is coming. This attack of fear will sneak upon its victim at any place and any time, disregarding what he or she is doing or where he or she is. Fear has no boundaries, nor is it a respecter of person or age. When the panic attack hits, it is so strong that it weakens the person and runs out or drains every ounce of his or her strength. Learning to live with this agony or torment is not an easy thing for anyone to do, but hopefully getting an idea of what causes a panic attack will aid you in overcoming or ending them completely.

Discover or identify the triggers. There are many triggers that can lead person to have an attack of anxiousness or fear. Genetics, psychic trauma, abuse and various other things can be a mechanism to trigger a panic attack. For instance, a person who has been abused, as I was, can see or hear something that will directly trigger a memory. At that moment, the person will live over the memory, as though it is taking place all over again. This memory will be thing that arouses the panic attack. By finding out the trigger points, the person could help to preclude or prevent a panic attack.

Talk to a doctor or participate in group therapy. This is one of the best ways used to help cure panic attacks. Doctors will help the person by teaching him or her how to bring out or unveil and recognize the trigger points that appear to be the cause of the panic attack. When the trigger is known, the person will start to learn the steps to avoid them. Sometimes, medicine is prescribed to help. But, the main point is to learn to prevent the onset of an anxiousness or panic attack.

Learn how to breathe properly. Breathing exercises will help stimulate blood flow round the body to the organs, nerves, muscles and blood with oxygen. This will assist in giving a more sense of calmness. Yoga teaches and demonstrates breathing techniques that will assist in relaxing the body.

Practice a healthy lifestyle. Giving your body the nurturing it needs by eliminating unneeded sugars and other foods that stress it will help to bring a healthy balance to it. When a woman's hormone is not well balanced, her whole body will be dissatisfied or disgruntled.
