1. Learn form the Best- We've all ended up buying things that we didn't necessarily need because we were enticed by the sales letter. If a sales letter entices you, put it away or bookmark the webpage for later research. Work out what part of the letter it was that enticed you, and try and utilize that tool in your own letter writing.
2. Use testimonials- Why should a prospect trust you? We've all been burned online before, so what makes you different. Testimonials from past customers are a great way to build trust. If it is a new product or service, offer it to a couple of people for free in exchange for a testimonial.
3. Repeat the offer in the order form- Even if a prospect makes it to your order form, there is a chance they will click away. Often, the order page is where a prospect will get the highest purchase dissonance, as this reinforces that they are actually about to spend money. Repeat what they are getting in the order form so a prospect knows exactly what they are ordering.
4. Provide contact details- A prospect may have some interest in your product but need some questions answered. Make it easy for them to contact you so you can allay their fears. If you do not provide contact details, the prospect will click away and buy from your opposition.
5. Bonus Offers- Make prospects more likely to convert by giving them free bonus offers.
6. Test, test, test, test, test- There is no point in just putting a sales page out there. Change and test everything until you come to the most profitable combination of price, page layout and free offers. Also, don't be afraid to change your sales letter content if your current content is not working.
7. Analyse- Make sure you have a proper analysis process in place to analyse the results of your different testing. Don't work on 'gut-feeling.' Make sure you keep track of which combinations provide the best conversion ratio of prospects/ customers, and whether this is the outcome you wanted.
