Getting indexed in Google and other search engines is a task that some consider a rather daunting task, but to me and the other experts its one of the easiest tasks in getting started with website promotion.
One of the first steps in getting the word out about your website is getting search engines to pick up on your site's presence and list it in its search database. From that point, search engine optimization and other techniques can be applied to raise your site up the ranks to possibly being the first listing for your site's topic.
Now to the good part, I will show you exactly how to get indexed in Google quickly in three easy steps. I've never had to wait longer than two weeks ever in my internet marketing career to get any of my ten sites indexed. Proceed on in confidence, for your site will be indexed in no time after you take action on the following steps.
Step 1: Google loves sitemaps! Sitemaps are scripts read by search engines that explain to crawlers and bots the sites structure and contents. To generate a sitemap there are a variety of websites that offer scripts that will generate the file to be downloaded for you. Go to http://www.xml-sitemaps.com and type in your website's address. From there, pick how often you update the site and set the priority to 1. Click "generate" and you will be taken to a page that lists 3 files: sitemap.xml, sitemap.xml.gz and ror.xml. All 3 of these can be used so download them to your hard drive then upload them to the main directory of your website.
Step 2: Go to http://www.google.com/sitemaps and register for a webmaster's account if you don't already have one. Add your site to the list and follow the verification instructions to verify your site; then proceed to the Add a Sitemap link and type in the URL of all three sitemaps that you uploaded to your website.
Step 3: Go to google.com/submit_content.html then click Submit URL and enter your website's URL into the text box and click submit.
