SE Optimization: Blogging Underground Bonus, Intelligent Backlinking, and Bieber vs. Wonder... Eh?

(Sat Apr 23rd, 2011, by Lee Murray)

Are you an online business owner? If you answered yes, then you undoubtedly understand just how important relavent, quality backlinks are for great search engine rankings and high-converting traffic.

When it's all said and done, the internet runs on links. Without them, surfers would never be able to connect with the information, products, or services they need and want. Because of this, the power of links isn't likely to ever go away or decrease in any way.

Google and other top search engines view the links pointing at a particular site as a vote for that site. In other words, if you're trying to rank your webpage for the term "steak taco recipe," then you want as many links as possible that say "steak taco recipe" pointing at that page.

Your rankings in the SERPS, and ultimately your traffic, will be greatly influenced by the number of keyword-specific backlinks you have "casting votes" for your pages.

However, the quantity of inbound links you've got is not the whole story. In fact, one extremely high quality link can be worth as many as 25 or more lower quality links!

Think of it like a singing competition, where the greatest mainstream singer in the world is determined by the answers to a questionnaire, or poll. Maybe the study first polls a thousand 4th and 5th graders, where 670 of them give "Justin Bieber" as their answer. But do you think the people taking this poll would side with these children if they also polled 10 well-known, accomplished vocalists and 5 A&R reps who all say that Stevie Wonder is easily the best singer around? Not even close.

They will trust the opinions of 15 top professionals within the music industry over hundreds of children any day of the week. Does it make any difference that it was hundreds vs. only fifteen? Absolutely not.

Naturally, the opinions of 100's of quality professionals can certainly carry more weight than those of merely the 15, so the real power comes from getting the best of both worlds. We're looking for quality and quantity.

So let's bring this back to backlinks. You see, a prime quality website link is one that's incredibly relevant (the same as a famous person in the music industry is relevant to music). In addition, it is highly regarded (such as an individual who's become one of the best in the business thanks to their very own dazzling expertise).

To the point, you'll want to get one-way links from other web pages which are similar to your own; notably websites which have high PR (page rank). These websites are likely to bring you some of the most highly effective "link juice" you will find anywhere.

Google prefers sites which are being linked to from many high quality and relevant sites, using specific and relevant keyword hyperlinks set within useful, unique, and relevant text. This is truly search engine and traffic gold for you.

Regularly posting to a high-quality blog network like Free Traffic System, SEO Linkvine, or the new one created by Mike Liebner, "Blogging Underground" can really make this happen for you in a hurry, and should be considered as one of your top priorities (and maybe even THE top priority) when it comes to building links back to your site.
