Religion: Verse No. 14 in the Bible Versus the Quran

(Sat Nov 29th, 2008, by Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil)

This is a new series (1-14) of Verse No. in the Bible versus the Quran.

Verse No. 14 in the Old Testament says: And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years,

Verse No. 14 in the New Testament says that Azor was the father of Zadok (Sadoc), Zadok the father of Achim (Akim), and Achim the father of Eliud.

Verse No. 14 in the Noble Quran says:  Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and ears; their sight is dimmed and for them is a great punishment.

----------------

The verse No. 14 in the Old Testament is Genesis 1:14

The verse continues talking about the creation of the heavens and the earth, it says: And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years,

Now we are in the fourth day of the creation of the heavens and the earth.

There was evening, and there was morning of the first, second and third day.

However, God has not yet created the sun and moon.

In the fourth day of the creation, God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years",

Also, it is not the lights in the expanse of the sky that separate the day from the night.  A student in the primary school knows how the day and nights are produced.

----------------

The verse No. 14 in the New Testament is Matthew 1:14

The verse continues talking about the Genealogy of Jesus Christ, and Matthew lists Jesus' ancestors, the verse says: Azor was the father of Zadok (Sadoc), Zadok the father of Achim (Akim), and Achim the father of Eliud.

Here again, we have the problem of writing the names in the different four versions of the Bible studied.

Fundamentally, the names of the people have no translation, they have to be written as they are pronounced.

The case is true when it comes to a name of a person, whose name is Eliud, it is written as it is  pronounced in the four versions studied without any change(s).

How come that a person's name in one version of the Bible is Achim (with ch); and in another version of the Bible he is Akim (with K instead of ch)?

How come that a person's name in one version of the Bible is Zadok (with Z at the beginning and K at the end) and in another version of the Bible he is Sadoc (with S at the beginning and C at the end)?

----------------

Verse No. 14 in the Noble Quran is Chapter 2:7, Surah Surah AL-BAQARA (THE COW), 2:7

The verse says:

Verse 2:6 says:

As for the disbelievers; who remain firm in their disbelief, alike it is for them whether you (O Muhammad) have warned them (by means of the Quran) or have not warned them, they do not want to believe, as Allah knows very well, It is also said that they will not believe as it is in Allah's knowledge; so do not hope that they will believe and do not be sad about them; (See article 13).

Why they remain firm in their disbelief?

Verse 2:7 says:

Allah has set a seal on their hearts, impressing on them and making certain that no good enters them; and on their hearing, [in which He has] deposited something so that they cannot profit from the truth they hear; and on their eyes is a covering, that is, a veil so that they do not see the truth; and for them there will be a mighty chastisement, that is, intense and everlasting (in the Eternal Fire).

It is very premature to ask this question:

Is the Quran quoted from the Bible?

Wait and you will see.
