Religion: I'll Fly Away?

(Fri Nov 28th, 2008, by Ernie Fitzpatrick)

It's not only those who interpret everything in the Bible LITERALLY that have entered the halls of deception, but those who have embraced the METAPHORS too rigidly as well. A metaphor is a figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest a similarity. Got it? The metaphor is NOT the thing. The finger which POINTS TO something is not the THING pointed to.

However, we have so inculcated our metaphors into songs, stories, and belief system that we subconsciously are living out that which isn't. Our songs say we'll FLY AWAY and that has rolled over into the rapture doctrine wherein we'll fly from earth to somewhere in the sky where we'll meet Jesus, who has descended from heaven.

How can 6-7 billion people meet at one place to see one person?

Of course that's not going to happen. But our answer is, since it makes no sense (oxymoron), that God can do anything, it's a miracle. Anything that can't be explained, or is insanely off the charts is a "God can do anything" paradigm-answer.

Those who lived and experienced the life of Jesus had no explanation for this thing called a resurrection so the "story" was that Jesus lifted off the earth, broke the hold of gravity and "went somewhere out there". There was no concept of "dematerialization". Flesh being "spirit materialized" had not entered the mind. And therein we must ask the question.

What has yet to enter the mind of mankind?

That we've made progress in understanding God more (an exponential increase in Spirit-Consciousness) is more than evident, while also being vehemently denied by many. Yet, we've barely touched the hem of the garment (of Spirit). Let's forget about flying AWAY and start digging IN- to the I AM that we ARE!
