Key Verse -- And the LORD said unto her, To nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; & the one people shall be stronger than the other people; & the elder shall serve the younger. Genesis 25:19-34 Verse 19 -- And these are the generations of Issac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Issac .......... Genealogy -- Abraham Verse 20 -- And Issac was forty years olde when he took Rebekah to wife, "the" daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, "the" sister to Laban the Syrian. Abram took Sarai his wife, .............. & all the sustance that they had gathered ............. & they went forth to go into the land of Canaan And the Cananite was then in the land Back to Genesis 25:19-34 Verse 21 -- And Issac .... intreated ... the LORD for his wife, because she was barren, and the LORD was intreated of him, & Rebekah his wife conceived. Miracle -- Gift of Children Issac prayed (intreated) for his wife because he wanted her to become the mother of his child (children). In God's time HE answered Issac's prayer. Husbands learn to pray for your wives... This very scripture goes into deep detail if you research it. Verses 22, 23 And the children struggled together within her; & she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD. Can you imagine how she felt -- was she in pain -- or was she fearful? She prayed to God and HE answered her and told she was carrying ....... Two nations......... Verse 24 -- When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins .... The Family -- Parents & Children -- Twins Easu(Edom-verse 30) -- born first Jacob(Israel) -- born last Genesis 28:6-9 Esau married Ishmael daughter..... Ishmael was Abraham's son. Back to Genesis 25:19-34 Verses 25, 26 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; & they called his name Esau. And after that his brother out, & his hand took hold on Esau's heel; & his name was called Jacob: The Family -- Children -- Twins Verse 27 -- And the boys grew: & Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; & Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents External Nature -- Man & The Animal Creation -- Hunting for Food (Genesis 27:1-5 --- Issac called his oldest son, Esau & told him to go prepare him some vension/stew so he could bless him & Genesis 27:6-23 ---- Rebekah overheard & told Jacob what to do so he would receive the blessing from his daddy) Back to Genesis 25:19-34 Verse 28 -- And Issac loved Esau ...... but Rebekah loved Jacob. The Family -- Family Affection -- Parents & Children -- Favorite Children Having favorites - special picks can also bring problems when children can see this. Verse 29 -- Jacob sod pottage: & Esau came from the field, & he was faint: The Outward Man -- The Sustenance of the Body -- Cooking Verse 30 -- Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, ..... for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom The Outward Man -- The Appetites Verses 31, 32, 33, 34 Jacob said, sell me this day the birthright. Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: & what profit shall this birthright do to me? Jacob said, Swear to me this day; & he sware unto him: & he said his birthright unto Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau bread & pottage of lentils; & he did eat & drink, & rose up, & went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright. Civil & Social Life -- Business Affairs -- Inheritance -- Birthright Question -- Food for Thought -- What Will Your Price Be? Now Sometime some things come with Responsibility as well as Privileges. Are you ready for the responsibility? Don't be too quick to be judgemental -- What would you have done if you would have been Jacob and or Issac? Two ways to look at this with the human eye -- Jacob could have freely given his brother, Esau some vension/pottage/stew ...... Esau could have waited and rested and prepared his own vension/pottage/stew and or he should have been looking down the road instead of looking at the moment .........
