Religion: Baptism

(Thu Jan 3rd, 2008, by Gerry Legister)

Baptism was one of the two major ordinances in the new testament, Lord Supper been the other, Baptism is an unique outward initiation been immerse in water conducted under proper authority with converted individuals seeking harmony with Christianity, the benevolence and blessings has immense spiritual significance to the believers, the ordinance is most often undertaken to celebrate sacramental rites, which enhances the poignant memorial symbolism of death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus, the essence of this deep sanction of inner devotion is clearly emphasized in the holy scriptures and the practice has made this important teaching a central part of ancient and modern Christian belief,
In the Old Testament, baptism was a ritual conversion to Judaism by proselyte pagan individuals trying to identify with Jewish people to become the people of God, but baptism in the New Testament clearly distinguishes from ritual practice, where people had misplaces faith in symbolic shadow of better things to come.
Baptism is not administering a ceremonial cleansing to the body, holy water itself has no therapeutic power or magic deliverance, repentance and faith is most assuredly the persistent power behind baptism, fruits required for stepping further into the kingdom threshold, baptism answers riddling doubts and sends out a strong message to familiar friends who are on the defensive, the decision itself indicates a change of attitude and control moral outlook, the experience may well lead to an even deeper spiritual anointing by combining other kingdom principles, such as regeneration and justification to improve personal lifestyle.

Water baptism is the expression of faith publicly manifest by individuals who are born again, by faith they will declared in bold assurance their oblige obedience to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ with a committed heart, by testifying about the newly found grace a persons declares their intention to walk in the newness of life, its a bold language to attract good personality.
When a person is baptized they go down into the water, and be fully submerged, but many believers with traditional values are baptize by exemplary effusion in which the sacrament of water is gracefully poured upon the candidates head, in this area, infants are normally the recipients.
The short theological statement that constitute a legal baptism is repeated in the form of the trinity, based upon the great commission “go into all the world, teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19)
But many people follow the apostolic teaching baptized believers in the name of Jesus, when they heard this; they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 19:5 the Holy Ghost sanctioning also this procedure, and many received the gift of tongues and prophesied.
The key to baptism is repentance, turning from darkness to light, from probability to spiritual possibility, and from despair to hope, but baptism is not fulfilling a whole requirement of the kingdom of Heaven, it is merely one step upon the tall ladder to heaven, other heart changing elements would soon be required for further development. Christ links repentance with the kingdom of God, ‘‘from that time Jesus began to preach, and say, repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’’ Matthew 4:17
Baptism is faith bonding suspension, where all sincere followers come to a mutual agreement in the concept of belief, when reading the new testament it seemed that baptism was the way for almost every covenant member to become followers of Jesus Christ, and their justification was the direct result of repentance and faith, because without faith it is impossible to please God and to believe in what is unseen by natural eyes, faith denotes both assertion to the fact that Christ was crucified and triumphantly resurrected to live in the hearts of true believers, ‘‘he lives Christ Jesus lives’’ is a song that we most often sing at Easter time in celebrating the unforgettable purchase.
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life Romans 6:4
