Pets: What do bearded dragons eat? What food should you give them?

(Wed May 4th, 2011, by Alex Connor)

What do bearded dragons eat? They eat primarily insects and worms, but not any kind. If you want to learn all about the bearded dragons, their feeding and caring, you can visit this webpage which explains everything in detail.

Caring for a bearded dragon is not nearly as difficult as people make it out to be. Yes, they need sunlight and heat, but those things are easily provided by a few lightbulbs. If you want to have a bearded dragon, you don't need any expensive tools. Food for the dragons is usually sold in jars, but some people choose to produce their own food for the reptile. There are a few vitamins and nutrients, which the bearded dragon needs. There are also a few chemicals, which are poisonous to them, including oxalic acid and goitrogens.

One of the easiest ways to feed bearded dragons is to use sprouts. They can be gotten for cheap, and can be easily produced in mass quantities. Producing worms is also relatively easy, but many people are disgusted by this. Giving the reptile protein is important, as it needs it for it's muscles and metabolism.

What do bearded dragons eat?

Bearded dragons eat almost everything. Egg whites and yokes are good for them, provided that you do not overdose the reptile on cholesterol or fats. Some stores offer you a table of nutrient content of foods, and the nutrients that a bearded dragon needs. This is helpful, but not necessary. In the wild, the dragon will eat what it pleases, and you should replicate that by giving him a variety of different foods.

Bananas are a good source of magnesium and sodium, which these animals need, since they do not consume a lot of water. One of the best ways to feed the dragon is to grow green plants inside the container with him. Not only will that give the dragon food, but it will also produce vital oxygen, and make the environment more comfortable. Also, you may buy vitamins in the form of drops. These contain B-complex vitamins, as well as calcium and other micro-nutrients.
