(Thu May 12th, 2011, by Gary Rogers)

Do you love your dog You surely do which is why you provide with quality food, shelter, and companionship. But, do you provide it with adequate amounts of gifts. No, that does not mean you need to wrap up a special gift to your pet each and every day. That would be a little over the top. However, you should bring it nice toys and food treats when appropriate. This can work wonders in regards to how it behaves. Dogs truly do need gifts which is why this providing the dog with such items is suggested when you want the dog's behavior and disposition.

Often, you are giving a dog a gift in order to help yourself out. A happy and upbeat dog is not just a fun pet to be around. It is a pet that is well behaved and not prone to get itself into trouble on a whim. Keep these facts in mind when you weigh your options for giving your dog a little gift.

Does your dog play fetch well Does it heel when you tell it to heel Does it cease barking when you tell it to quiet down It would not be a bad idea to give the dog a little food treats now and then when it behaves in such a manner. You might not want to do that all the time because the dog might act in a certain manner in order to get the gift. However, if it is given a gift now and then, it will learn that it is always a good thing to listen to its owner as good behavior will lead to the occasional good reward.

Toys also make a great gift as well since dogs do need toys to keep busy. When a dog keeps busy it will likely be a well behaved and content dog. Such a dog makes a much nicer pet and one that you will find much more enjoyable to share your home with.

And honestly, it is most enjoyable dog is one that is cleaned and well groomed. This is why among the best gifts in which to provide to a dog will be cleaning and grooming items. Okay, the dog might find these to be dull gifts but it will appreciate that is becomes a much healthier pet since it is free of bacteria and other such problems.

There is a point that does need to be mentioned is that among the dogs that need a gift the most would be those dogs currently residing in an animal shelter. As much as you wish you could, you cannot take every dog home. But, you cannot donate money, dog toys, and the like to your local shelter. The dogs will certainly appreciate it.

Yes, dogs do need gifts because they provide a great many benefits to both the dog and owner alike. Gifts are a sign of appreciation to the dog and they also encourage positive behavior in the dog. That certainly is a good thing!
