Other: Pen Turning Kits and Supplies

(Thu Dec 2nd, 2010, by Jim Rowlings)

Ever notice how things and ideas seem to cycle through from one generation to another?  Maybe it’s a reaction to the previous generation: “let’s do it different”; or perhaps the economy is to blame: “diy and save’; or maybe it’s true: “everything old is new again”.  Today more people are turning to crafts to broaden their horizons, enjoy leisure time, save money, and sometimes make money.  Quilters are enjoying the benefits of a growing interest and market of supplies.  As evidenced by thriving yarn shops, knitting is popular with young and old.  The same is true with woodworking; this may be in part due to the popular television shows with their own network.  Woodworking tools are flying off the shelves in big box and specialized stores thanks to a renewed interest by hobbyists.  Likewise, woodworkers are exploring the varied avenues of the craft; furniture, inlays, art pieces, carving, and wood turning.

Like any other craft or art form, people turn to the experts for instruction and guidance.  This is particularly true for wood turners.  If you want to know how to do something well, first look to someone skilled and experienced.  You will want to search out a person with actual hands-on experienced in the field of interest.  Seek someone with a reputation for fine workmanship, who not only performs well but shows a love for the craft.  You would want a teacher/mentor who others turn to for examples of craftsmanship and who demonstrates an ability to teach and share the nuances of the form. You want someone like Barry Gross.

Popular writer, speaker, and demonstrator for the woodturning community, Barry Gross offers a complete catalog of turning supplies, turning kits, pen books; all a crafter or a craftsman needs in pen turning supplies.  Here you will find not only pen making supplies but pen turning kits and acrylic pen blanks as well.  Online you will find wood refinishing supplies and Corian refinishing supplies too.  This site has it all from drilling, sanding, buffing, and waxing.  Need Robert Sorby tools, look no further.

Prominent at woodworking shows and a familiar writer in Woodturning Design magazine, his unique style of pen making has spawned articles in the leading pen magazines, Stylus & Pen World.  Gross also demonstrates his unique techniques on television and his pens are prized possessions for the famous of the famous.  Gross is currently exploring his pen making art using re-cycled materials; see everything old is new again!

Barry Gross has published over 50 articles in several woodworking magazines, is an author of three books on turning and just released his second DVD; look to the expert for Pen Turning Supplies.  BG Art Forms has a vast and varied catalog of Pen Turning Kits.
