Gideon added, "You'll have another opportunity today to ask God whatever you'd like to ask. As for catching your plane? Don't worry, no problem. We guarantee that you'll be home with your children tonight."
"Sometimes I wonder about the two of you," I said,more as a loving comment than as a critical remark.
"We'll see you after your meeting," said Gideon.
"Here, let me give you the address," I said, reaching into my pocket for a pen and a piece of paper.
"We know where you'll be, John. We'll find you," he said.
Our conversation continued until the captain announced that we would soon be landing. From this altitude the Big City appeared so peaceful that one could almost believe it to be sleeping. Yet, it was a hive of activity at all hours of the day and night. In a few minutes we would be on the ground.
Gideon stood up and said, "We must get back to our assigned seats, John. We'll see you later."
Marla followed him, smiling as she passed by. "See you soon," she said as they both proceeded to the rear of the plane.
It was a textbook landing with hardly a ripple as we touched down and taxied to the gate. A few minutes later,we prepared to disembark. There was no need for rushing, since we had arrived right on schedule. I thought I'd remain in my seat for a short while to wait for Marla and Gideon. By this time the plane was almost empty, but I was sure that they could not have passed by without my seeing them. A few minutes later I stood up and looked around. I was the only one left on the plane.
Marla and Gideon had done it again. They had completely disappeared into thin air. Not at all surprised, I picked up my small travel bag, adjusted my tie and exited the plane. An hour and a half later, I arrived at the hotel where my meeting was to be held. It would last about an hour. After that I would be meeting with the President and Chairman of the Board of G&M Enterprises, Inc.!
