What kind of marketing "tricks" have you used in the past (or even currently) that have been ineffective for you? Well I know that I have tried almost 100 different things to market my business, and they all have been ineffective for me. If this describes you, then know that there are little-known ways to start seeing sales now.
You see one of the first things that I've ever tried was direct mail. This was when the cost to mail out a letter was incredibly cheap, so it made the most sense to me to go and try to capitalize on this medium right away. Unfortunately, my direct mail attempts fell flat on my head, and I couldn't succeed - even with the low cost.
But eventually, I got it to work for me. This was when I was advertising my marketing consulting services. I got alot of calls when I finally got it right, and it was one of the most phenomenal experiences for me. Now I found a mailing list from the SRDS, but there are all kinds of other lists that you can acquire.
One of the best lists that you can get is a list from the SRDS. The SRDS stands for the "standard rate and data service", and it's full of mailing lists, packed with customers who have bought a wide variety of things. I'm pretty confident that you can find a list for the business that you're in.
Now another kind of list that you can get is by randomly selecting people from your local phonebook to mail to. This may sound like a good idea, but know that this will deliver to you poor results. Not only are these people not targeted, but we have no idea of what their income level is, and what one of the major types of products that they've bought recently.
Never mail from a phonebook. Target your best prospects and go after them with an aggressive marketing strategy.
Now the last kind of list that you can get is on the one that you currently own: your own customer database. These are the group of people who have gone through the selling process, have raised their hands and said that they were interested, and then have finally bought something from you. These are the group of people that you should be going after.
By far, your own customer list will outperform any joint venture opportunity that you get into gage with. Once you have a huge customer base, you can send out offers all the time and get them to respond accordingly. Many customers will buy, and buy some more - all because you maintained a relationship with them. So following up on your prospects is a very important thing to do.
Leads and prospects found from newspaper and yellow page advertising are good too. Make sure you offer something for free and make it the focus of your ad. Once they respond to your ad, follow up on them with your complete sales presentation, and contact them at least once a month until 1 full year is up.
Use these tips to take your business to the next level.
Good luck with marketing your products and services.
