You always want to use different forms of marketing in your business. You want to do this simply because if one profit source dries up, you can immediately get back on the horse and get more leads and customers from another profit source. This is marketing 101, and is something that you should be implementing now in your business.
One of the best ways to get the word out about your products and services is by using joint venture marketing. With joint ventures, you team up with a similar business owner in your niche and offer services where the both of you gain something. I'm pretty sure that there's a business in your neighborhood who would be a good joint venture candidate.
The trick lies all in the proposal letter. You have to remember that your potential partner may be a busy person. So your letter must get their attention and inform them of the benefits of joining forces. Joint ventures can make you alot of money, and some business owners run their entire business via the use of joint ventures.
Another way to get the word out about your products and services is with press releases. A press release will obviously promote your business, but you need to do it in a way that seems like an endorsement. Always write about your news story in 3rd person, because you want to make it seem like real news - not an obvious sales pitch.
Or if press releases aren't your cup of tea, you could try direct mail. There are all kinds of variables that can make the difference between a "so-so" direct mail campaign, and a campaign that delivers world-class success. For example, mailing out your direct mail in a bulky, large envelope demands attention. This will cost you a bit to do so, but its effectiveness is never in doubt.
When you mail this package off, the intended recipient will put their other envelopes aside and focus on your mailing piece -- and this is exactly what you want them to do. Direct mail still works even in this down economy, but when done right, it can still bring you tons of great results for your business.
Another option is to use newspaper advertising. I've found that running ads in the sports section of the newspaper can deliver better response than if the ad ran in its relevant location. Why does this work? Well my assumption is that alot of people jump to the sports section to read up about all the highlights, and your ad is right there staring right in front of them. This is a good way to get into the minds of your prospective customers.
No matter how you get the word out about your business, you have to have a selling sequence that will allow you to turn prospects into customers. There's not enough room here to discuss the entire process, but know that it all revolves around multiple contacts to your leads. Capture their contact information, and follow up on them with more information.
Use these tips to make the kind of money that you deserve in your business.
Good luck with your marketing and advertising efforts.
