Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota shoppers may have been following the shortages of the different models that are primarily built in Japan such as the Toyota Prius. Earlier this month, Toyota Motor Corp announced most production operating levels to return to normal in June but only for some vehicles.

Now, Toyota Motor Corp is expecting the Toyota Prius to be added to the list as production is expected to be up to 70 percent by the summer.

According to Bob Carter, Group Vice President for U.S. Sales, at a briefing on May 18, Toyota in the U.S. sector is expected to get 36,000 Prii for June, July and August. Carter also commented that it is possible for the percentage to increase over those months as production may increase depending on how quickly Japan continues to rebound.

Although many customers, like those that visit Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota, may be looking for a Toyota Prius to help ease the cost of fuel as average price of gas continues to increase in the U.S., the Prius sales dropped significantly due to global vehicle shortages.

As noted by Carter, "If I had twice as many [Prii], we'd be selling twice as many."

Although Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota customers may not have had any problems finding the Toyota models they were interested in, other dealerships like Tansky Sawmill Toyota in Dublin, Ohio have a long list for Toyota Prii.

General Manager Bob McGlone says, "We have allocation right now, just no inventory.  I'm taking orders every day for the car. It's, Ma'am, I'll put you on the list, but it may be a year before we can get your Prius."

Many dealerships are hoping to see the 70 percent increase as soon as possible to fulfill the needs and orders of their customers. Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota customers may see a large increase as well in stock and options for the Toyota models. Customers should wait to visit the dealerships but when they do they will not be disappointed.
