I sometimes get these calls, have you ever received one? Mark, why isn't the business working for me, I can't sponsor anyone and no one wants to listen to me. So Please Mark, tell me why.
I pause......then I ask (which, of course, I learned this from my mentor Holton) "Let me ask you a couple of questions". I can almost hear the cringe over the phone. And I ask "Did you make it to training this past Saturday? Did you make it to the Business Briefing this past Thursday? Did you make it on the quick Sunday night training call? And lastly, did you treat your business like a business this past week?". Typically I hear that one or more of those things were not done, especially the last one.
You see, we think we can do the minimums, or less, and get by in our business. And that type of thinking gets us the results we do not desire. All we need to do is spend some part time effort each week for a lifetime of freedom. It's a bargain. So why is it not that easy?
It all boils down to those simple disciplines or simple errors in judgment. It's simple to get in your car, turn the key and drive to the Weekly Opportunity Meeting. It's also simple to make an excuse to stay home by saying "the traffic was too bad". It's simple to plan ahead to be at the Weekly Training. It's also simple to say "gosh, I worked hard all week and I need the rest" then turn over and go back to sleep.
It's also very simple to put a CD in your player and listen to the Audio Tools your Company provides to learn how to invite properly (the way it has been proven to work). It's also simple for someone to say "but that invite doesn't work for MY people". The simple invite simply gets changed and no one shows up for the first presentation. That's when the "why isn't it working" calls to the leader and coach start.
I remember when we started our business and I also remember how excited we were. We set up Weekly Trainings, with our coaches help, and went to every one of them for years (simple discipline). We set up the Weekly Opportunity Meeting on Thursdays, with our coaches help, and went to every one of them for years and even paid for the rooms when we came up short (simple discipline). It was simple.
And I forget to think of how simple it could have been not to do that. Because the thought never crossed our minds you see. We knew that if we weren't there the Trainings and Meetings would not happen. We also knew that if we didn't perform the simple calls to our coach none of it would have happened.
Folks the key to winning is to treat this business as if you were the only one to do all of the Trainings and Meetings. Also treat it as if you had just paid 1 million dollars for the rights to your business. Because that's what it has resulted in today. This industry is creating Multi-Millionaires with many more to come. So are you running a Multi-Million Dollar business? Or, are you running a $99, $299 or $1,000 business (the cost of your kit)? Where you start doesn't determine where you will finish. But your mindset and the simple choices you make surely will determine where you are going.
Are you doing the simple disciplines of making the calls, holding the opportunity presentations and making it to the trainings EVERY week, or just some weeks? Think about it you go to work everyday and some of you even work the weekends! Why do you keep doing it? Because you have a guarantee. You are guaranteed a paycheck. Right, you're also guaranteed to work the rest of your life. Is that necessarily bad, No. As long as you don't complain about it and then do nothing to improve the situation. You know the ones at work that always complain, but when you call them and let them know there's a possible way out they say "Oh that doesn't work".
This is a business of Consistency of Effort in doing the right things (simple disciplines). And if you work it consistently you won't have a guarantee of winning but I can also tell you this you won't have a ceiling on your income either. You can give yourself a raise every week if you want.
Are you making that simple, easy to dial call to your leader or coach on a daily basis, or is it every now and then? Mentorship is everything in this business or any business for that matter. If you have a mentor that hasn't achieved at least some level of success into some of the higher levels in the business you're in - you can expect to get to that same level (which may not be very far). What does it take to get noticed by someone who is achieving at a higher level? Get some results! The leaders are watching.
In most cases the systems in Network Marketing companies are set up for the person getting started to plug in and start getting results immediately. But that is only if you follow the system closely. What I find is that most (80%+) won't follow the simple instructions set forth. Trust me I know this personally - I didn't follow the simple instructions in the beginning either (it's called Ego folks). But when I didn't get the results I wanted I found out my way really didn't work so I decided to learn the system that was already available to me. Which I'm sure there is a system available to you in the company you're currently in.
Are you opening your mind to the coaching and using the system, which makes it so simple to build your business or do you have your own simple way (which prompted the "why isn't it working" call in the first place)? Again we get back to the system your company has in place. That system is there for you to win. And the system is SIMPLE.
If it is so simple why doesn't it seem to work? Because we make the simple errors in judgment that keep us from the life our families deserve.
We have simple choices we make everyday. And those simple choices become habits. Will those habits lead us closer to a life freedom or further into a life of bondage?
Which choice will you make? Will it be the simple discipline to allow a life full of living or will it be a simple error in judgment that has us making calls asking why?
