When’s the last time you called a repairman to your home? When searching, rule of thumb
say’s to call 3 providers for every job you have. Fair enough you say, but which 3? Type in
“AC Repair” & “your home town” and you’ll see the choices are overwhelming.
What used to be as easy as thumbing through the pages of your local phone directory is
now a game of chance. Internet search results yield hundreds of choices, all vying for your
business
So what options does the home owner have?
A company called bidscompare.com is trying to help. This site offers an “apples to apples”
price comparison service displaying home owner supplied bids. The more people who
submit their bids, the better the results will be.
The site asks the homeowner to have one bid in hand, this way all the details (sq. footage,
model numbers, material, etc) are accounted for. Knowing what each bid includes is critical
as it allows the home owner to get precise comparisons.
After a series of questions, including the zip code and final cost, the user is rewarded with a
matrix of results showing their bid compared to similar (if not exact) bids in their zip code. If
no local bids come up, you can increase the zip code radius for better results.
The site does not ask for any personally identifying information, no email or phone number,
nor is there any cost to use the service. Homeowners compare prices on like services in
their area, that’s all.
In today’s hurried market, it’s nice to have another tool at our disposal.
