Fitness: Drinking Water And Weight Loss - The Magic Connection Creation Intended?

No matter what research you’ve done in developing a weight loss plan, there is one rule that you see over and over again and that’s to DRINK MORE WATER.

Drink lots and lots of it, and never stop drinking water, no matter what you do.

But why?

On its face, it resembles a cruel middle school prank. It seems way too easy to actually work—it’s free, it’s easy to obtain, it tastes…well, it doesn’t taste like anything, and you use it to shower before work.

Utility is great, but what is it about water that makes it such an integral part of any diet plan?

The good news is that drinking large amounts of water is the single best thing you can do to take off the weight and keep it off.

Let’s look at the reasons why.

•    You know when your car’s running, and fumes are coming out of the exhaust pipe? Well, it’s the same way with your body when you burn calories. And in burning calories we release toxins into the body. Unlike cars, we don’t have exhaust pipes. So the only way to get those toxins out is to flush them out by drinking lots of water.

•    The initial weight you lose when you first go on a diet is water weight. It’s a natural reaction your body has to your new regimen, and, it’s a good thing. Without replenishing your body’s fluids, you run the risk of dehydration—which, while it doesn’t sound like a big deal, is akin to running your car with no oil (to resuscitate the car example once again).

•    Speaking of oil, let’s move from cars to the Tin Man; you know, from the Wizard of Oz? When Dorothy finds him, he’s a rusty, squeaky pile of tin that can barely move. She gives him some oil for his joints, and before you know it he’s moving like his old self again—hopping around in song. And it’s the same with your body. Water is your body’s lubricant—it loosens up those joints and helps your muscles keep in shape. If you’re finding that you’re too “rusty” to exercise, try drinking lots of water every day for a week, and you’ll be amazed at how easy it will be to get up and running.

Your research has probably also uncovered a lot of talk about fiber being good for your digestion of food, and without water, let’s just say your pipes are going to be a bit clogged up.

You should drink between 60 and 100 ounces of water daily, depending on how much exercise you’re getting and how much you’re sweating. This may be new for some women, so if you find that you’re bloated, remember that it’s not the water’s fault. It simply means that you have to cut back on your salt intake.

Putting down the saltshaker, of course, is the easiest solution. But cutting out as many processed foods as possible goes a long way. You see, salt and salt derivatives are what make it possible for foods to have a long shelf life.

So keep it natural, and drink plenty of water!
