A GUIDE TO BUDGETING
It is essential to have a money plan. Financial goals is outlining your budget plan. When you do this, you can regulate your funds, set up and achieve financial objectives and you can make advance decisions how you want your finance to function well for you.
Essentially the main idea in budgeting is for you to place aside fixed amount of money for expected and as well as for emergency costs.
Basing it on previous home expenses and monthly bills - putting it mildly this is what estimation means.
Taking in mortgage or home rental, home contents and building insurance, gas and electricity, water bill, car taxes and insurance, medical insurance, life insurances and credit cards etc., these are all your monthly bills, which is called fixed expenditures. Follow up on these to find out how much is paid out every month. Then add up all these sums.
If you have a steady income say about $10,000 monthly, you should subtract your monthly income from the $10,000 which you get monthly
The balance that is remaining after the subtraction of the month cost, this is what you have remaining for the household.
The proportion of this can now be divided for groceries, clothing, gasoline, expected and emergency cost and the remaining for entertainment.
Budgeting will only be successful to work when you keep to the strict regime. The idea is to formulate a goal and keep to the plan.
BUDGET TIPS:
1. Be sensible in managing your money. Your attitude is essential. Know the significance of trying to reach an agreement and compromise that involves expenditures.
Sacrifice is the key to budgeting. Make a list of what you take as luxuries --- cross out half the list. Look at it again and cross the other half out.
2. Planning your situation is very essential. I can not stress this enough.
3. List all your overheads and now make a list with your earnings and keep this aside.
4. Practice frugality with dignity. Instead of going shopping take the children to the beach or maybe the park. You can still have fun with out spending money.
5. Budgeting is an effective tool and a fundamental one this is available to anyone and it is free, when you consider this, you can benefit from it.
MAINTAINING GASOLINE:
Gasoline price is definitely on the rise and slowly is rising every year. This is a great concern to every family who are following a tight budget. So how can you save some money on gas? I have outlined the following tips that you can follow.
The System of Carpool:
Here is a great idea for any family, employees and students alike. Since all of you will be going to the same destination at one time or other, there is no need to bring extra vehicles if you can all fit in one car or van. If you are with your colleagues at work, it is an excellent idea to use your cars alternately or in rotation. Especially if you have children, that you take to school or a social events, exchange driving responsibilities with your friends.
You can always use the public transportation when going to the office. This is a wonderful and good way to relax, since you are not driving. You can even take in the scenery or take a short nap while on your way.
Check The Prices Of Different Gas Stations ---
When driving around take time to check the prices of different gas stations near your neighbourhood. Keep in mind that a few cents/pennies difference can add up to a lot if you continually have your car re-filled in the same gas station all the time. If you look after your cents/pennies the dollar/pounds will look after themselves.
Good Way To Stay Healthy
An excellent way to save money on gas and keep healthy at the same time is by walking or riding on a bike to your destination. It will save you a lot of time since you do not have to look for parking space and also makes you fit and healthier from the exercise. Using these practical alternatives will also keep you from getting caught in traffic which will surely waste a lot of your time and gas.
Maintain Your Car:
It is important to keep your car's engine in good running order to avoid consuming a lot of fuel. When driving around on errands, make it a necessity to plan out your route before you even get out of the house. This will minimize your trips off going back and forth. It is also a good idea to use the air condition as minimal as possible since it drastically lessens the car's fuel consumption.
Regularly Check Your Car's Tire Pressure :
Make it a practice to check your car's tires making sure each one has equal amount of pressure in them. Having unequal pressure can greatly affect the car's fuel economy. It is also necessary for you to refrain from accelerating too fast as this avoids burning a lot more fuel.
If you do these habitually it will become second nature to you to save on gas.
Gasoline is becoming more expensive and it is wise therefore to conserve this very valuable commodity.
Saving on Electricity: Some This Commodity For Granted.
It is important to know that all damaged wiring should be seen to and rewired by an authorised electrician.
Don't Leave Electrical Appliances on Standby:
85% of the population will use the remote control to switch off the television or the stereo, leaving the appliance running on standby. This actually means that the appliance is still using up electricity and wastes a considerable amount of energy. By switching off at the main power switch, you will be saving both energy and money. An extra million tonnes of carbon will be released into the atmosphere through this power wastage.
Electric tumble dryers are commonly the second biggest energy user in the home, after the fridge. Though are obviously used a lot less, but they still use a huge amount of electricity when switched on. Try to avoid using the tumble dryer often instead trying line drying your clothes whenever possible or using an indoor clothes dryer when the weather is bad.
If you do need to use the dryer, then ensure the clothes are as dry as possible after washing, example, they have gone through a fast spin so that there is minimum excess water. This will reduce drying time considerably.
Lighting :
It is always best to use a low energy bulb to save on electricity, they cost more though in the long run, you save 15% on your electricity bill in a year. Traditional bulbs waste a lot of energy by turning it into heat but energy saving bulbs work in the same way as fluorescent lights, the tubes coating glows brightly as an electric current passed through gas in the tube.
These are more expensive to buy than traditional bulbs, but they are worth the investment as they last over 10 times longer and use up to 4 times less energy. Where you would use a 100w ordinary bulb, you would only need a 20-25w energy saving bulb. With savings like this, changing bulbs throughout your house could definitely cut your electricity costs.
No matter what type of lighting you are using, always turn the lights off when you leave a room.
Maintenance To Your Gas Boiler :
* It is very important to have your boiler serviced every year.
Your gas boiler could you money, energy and it could even save
your life.
* When gas boilers are not maintained regularly, they are more
likely to break down which can mean expensive repair costs not
to mention a great inconvenience to you. It is not fun to be
left without heat on a very cold day or night in winter and
then have to find someone to fix it quickly.
* It is dangerous when faulty gas appliances leak carbon
monoxide, which you can not see or smell but when inhaled can
be fatal.
* You should turn your heating on at least once a month in
summer to allow it to run efficiently and also to clear the
boiler pump of any grit that gather when it is not in use.
* If you are a Homeowner --- You should make sure your boiler is
checked once a year by a Corgi registered engineer to keep a
smooth and efficient running of your boiler.
* To avoid expensive cost of a breakdown of the gas boiler make
sure that your boiler is covered by your Home Contents
Insurance.
* If you are a Tenant --- Then it is your landlord's
responsibility to have the gas boiler and all radiators
inspected every year. Request to see the gas safety
certificate to be sure your boiler has been checked.
* Landlords --- Are legally obliged to get all gas boilers and
radiators inspected once a year by a Corgi registered engineer
to get a CP 12 safety certificate by them.
IMPORTANT GAS SAFETY DON'ts :
1. Don't ever attempt to fix or tamper with a gas appliance
yourself, only a CORGI engineer can repair your boiler.
2. Don't take chances, To be on the save side, it is best to fit
a carbon monoxide detector to warn you if there is a leak, you
must turn off the gas and call the National Gas Emergency
Service immediately on 0800 111 999 or call your home country
telephone numer, if it shows that carbon monoxide is present.
3. Don't use any appliances that are stained or have soot around
them, they may be faulty.
4. Don't ever use a boiler in which the pilot light is frequently
blowing out, it is probably faulty. Its best have an expert to
check it.
5. Don't ever use gas appliances that may be faulty.
6. Don't block ventilation grilles or air bricks. This is not
safe.
7. Don't ever cover your gas appliances up or block the air
vents.
8. Don't ever block ventilation grilles or air bricks.
9. Don't use gas appliances with yellow or orange flames (unless
you have a fuel effect fire which is supposed to be this
colour) because these are signs they are faulty.
10. Don't ever block outside flues and always ensure they're kept
clear of obstruction.
11. Don't think twice, if you think you smell gas, or think you
have a gas leak in your home, turn off your gas supply, do not
switch any electrical appliances on or off or bring naked
flames into your home, and call the National Gas Emergency
Service immediately on 0800 111 999or call your country's
telephone number. Even if you turn out to be wrong, it is
always better to be safe rather than sorry.
Telephone:
Look around for a cheaper deal. There are always telephone companies that are out bidding each other. Try to get a deal for free calls in the evenings and during the weekends. You wouldn't mind during the week day, you are not going to use the telephone then, as you would be at work.
At home during the week day, use phone cards which are cheaper. Use prepaid for mobile phones, get friends to call you so you can spread the cost.
