If you are buying a new lawn mower then you will want to ensure the one you buy is good quality and has the features you need at a reasonable price. What features should you consider when purchasing a new Honda lawn mower? There are three important aspects to take into consideration, speed controls, performance and comfort and shredding, bagging and mulching facilities. We'll look at each of these.
Speed Controls
When choosing a Honda lawn mower there are two main choices, lightweight push mowers and self propelled mowers. Although the push models are lightweight they still need some upper body strength to push so if you are elderly or otherwise not too fit these types may not be best for you. Push models include the Honda PDA series. The self propelled models are easy to use and ideal for those who find a push model too difficult. Honda models that are self propelled include the HMA, HXA, VXA and VKA series. They indclude a Smart Drive which is easily adjusted by use of a paddle and a cruise control which can be set to a speed suitable for the operator and the lawn conditions.
Shredding, Bagging, Shredding and Mulching Features
The options for processing the lawn clippings may include a mulching facility where the clippings are chopped up finely before being discharged directly on the lawn to act as a fertiliser. If you do not want to do this you have the option of bagging, leaf shredding or side discharge. Not all Honda lawn mowers have all of these features. The HRS models can handle side discharge and mulching but not shredding or bagging. The HRC models have bagging and mulching as standard but have no options for leaf shredding. The HRR and HRX models can be used in mulching or side discharge mode with optional shredding and bagging.
Performance and Comfort
Performance is important and Honda lawn mowers have a good reputation in this area. The Honda range includes many models at a wide range of prices and performance is, of course, better for the more expensive models. Top of the range are the HRX models with many features and excellent performance but even the less expensive models will perform well. The HRR models are cheaper but still include a number of features including adjustable handles and auto chokes. Cheaper still are the HRC and HRS models which have fewer features and options but give great performance for the money.
All Honda models have a reputation for being reliable so even if you buy one of the cheaper models you can be sure that it will last for many years. Their after sale service is also good and you can't go wrong with a new Honda lawn mower.
