Environment: Treating Toe Fungus With Natural Remedies

(Tue May 24th, 2011, by Diana Cohen)

I don't think that the toenail fungus will ever win a popularity contest. It can be quite challenging for a person to get rid of it and avoid it since they are very persistent. If you've been fighting it for a while with antifungal drugs and other medications , you may be want to learn more about some alternative approaches in treating it. One common drug that is used is to prevent toenail fungus is the ketoconazole Nizoral which is used for back and scalp fungus as well.

You have to keep in mind that if you use an alternative healing approach that you will need to work at this rigorously. One simple thing to do it is to air your feet out often at home and go walking without socks if possible. Remember that when you do wear socks regularly, be sure they are cotton made so that your feet can breathe. Try to avoid tight shoes and sneakers that can cause your feet to perspire a lot. Perspiration is not a good thing for fungus whether it is athlete's foot, tinea versicolor or scalp tinea (fungus) because it will only trigger them to spread.

When you wash your feet don't forget to dry them too because moisture and dampness can encourage fungus to be active. This is similar to the way that mold and mildew can grow in wet areas. If you have toenail fungus, one way to prevent it is to get some foot powder at the pharmacy or any drug stores you know and apply it all over your feet to make sure that it is covered entirely. If you are looking for some effective agents, you can directly use are tea tree oil and garlic. These products can help kill the spores that may cause toenail fungus.

One of my clients had success with recurring fungal toe problems by mixing together a few drops of vinegar in a cup of water. While watching TV she put her feet in this mixture and stays it for a couple of minutes. Then, after that she followed it with applying tea tree oil directly to her feet. Some people also advise to actually soaking your feet in water and tea tree oil mix will get result in avoiding toenail fungus.

Internally taking acidopholous and/or bifidus are helpful as they are probiotics and counteract fungus issues. You can find this supplement in the health food store but live cultures are also present in certain yogurts.
