Environment: Obesity and impotence

(Tue May 24th, 2011, by Anthony Delar)

Obesity is a result of many factors such as lack of exercise and consumption of unhealthy foods. It represents a complex relationship between genetic, psychological and metabolic factors. Obesity is rising very fast and slowly becoming a global threat. It is cutting across geographical boundaries and posing as a threat to the global population. An individual is said to be obese if his/her body mass index is above 30. An ideal BMI is between 20 and 25. The bad news is that it is growing at an alarming rate and the good news is that you can control and treat it.

Being overweight not only makes you sluggish and lazy but regular activities such as performing daily chores, walking, and having sex. Well, if you are not having sex regularly, you should make it a point to do it as it will help you lose weight and act as a stress-reliever. Excessive body weight leads to health conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, liver malfunction, heart problems and diabetes. This is not a complete list of health problems caused by obesity.

Some illnesses lead to obesity. For example, most people eat more when they are depressed. This adds to their body weight and leads to more depression. Overeating under such circumstances can be harmful as the person is not really sure of what to eat and what to avoid. Genetic factors are also responsible for weight gain. Metabolism of an individual plays a major role in weight gain. You must have noticed that some people are naturally fat while some are thin and this is largely because of metabolism of the body. The rate at which you body burns calories when it is in the resting state is known as the resting metabolic rate.

No romantic hero has love handles but more than 2/3rd of the population in the UK and the USA have them. While excess weight does not hamper the sexual interests of obese people, it certainly leads to health conditions such as impotence and premature ejaculation that can affect sex life. Since obesity leads to depression, low self esteem and social anxiety, which are also causes of impotence, are interconnected. Some doctors claim that more than 90% of the cases of impotence have a physical origin and this only adds to the number of cases that arise because of obesity.

If you are looking for a quick fix for your weight problems, you can use medications such as Xenical. This medication has a completely unique way of working. It blocks some of the fat that you consume and stops it from being absorbed in the body. More than two third of the fat that you consume is blocked. Xenical works best with a low calorie diet and regular exercise. Using this drug with a high fat diet will not bring desired results. Always use it as prescribed. Do not use this drug if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Always consult a doctor before using this drug.
