Here are four of my favorite evergreen small leaf holly selections for Eastern Pa.
Beehive Japanese Holly
The Beehive Japanese Hooly is a compct round growing shrub that requires little pruning. It grows in a dense mamnner to a height of 4-6 feet and width of 4-6 feet. The leaf is smaller than many and is a dark green.Good in zones 6-8.
Hoogendorn Holly
The Hoogendorn Holly is a compact grower with a larger leaf than the Beehive Holly. It is dark green with new growth being lighter in color and more ariy in appearance. It grows to a height of 3-4 feet and a width of 3-4 feet. Good for zones 5-8.
Skypencil Holly
The Skypencil Holly is a very narrow columanr holly with dark lustrous green foliage. It stays very narrow with no trimming or staking. This plant grows to a height of 10-12 feet and only spread 2-3 feet.
Steeds Holly
The Steeds Holly has an upright pyramidal growth habit. It has dark green leaves. This plant grows to a height of 6-8 feet and a width of 3-5 feet. These atributes make is a good choice for hedges. Good in zones 5-8.
