ustralia's The Tunnel has been publicised for being the first movie distributed through torrents for free. With a very interesting storyline, the movie sets out to be pseudo-documentary. With interview segments interspersed throughout the film, it features only a few number of characters.

It begins to what I felt was a very convincing start. It includes quite a number of 'tv clippings' and 'security camera recordings' to stick to the theme of a documentary. However, after the slow start the movie goes swift paced with the events taking place very quickly, instilling a sense of panic in the audience. I was disappointed with the end, which I think came too quickly and was completely predictable thanks to the interviews of the crew shown after the incidents. The film, in my opinion, still makes a good effort to keep the viewers thrilled.
The acting seemed very natural with some of the cast associated with the same form of work in real life as that of the characters. There are certain off-screen characters that further help in instilling the sense of isolation seen throughout the film.
The distribution model interested me initially to take note of this flick. A distribution model such as this is one of risks, as the film-makers' profits lie entirely on the DVDs bought, they've also included 'Buy a frame' available on their website to help cover the funding costs for the film, which to me is a good idea.
Overall, I think this is a good film that will be enjoyed by the masses if they manage to endure the bits of talk. For film-lovers, this film will probably be the first of many ideas that will stem in this new model of distribution to put forth more independent films.
he best horror movie I have seen in a long time. It gives the feeling that it could actually happen and is totally believable. Having explored storm drains as a kid I can relate to the feeling of being in dark unfamiliar places with the ghostly sounds and the fear of becoming lost, it really brought those feelings flooding back and had me on the edge of my seat. The background music was perfect as was the casting and the makeup. The cameras captured the eerie feelings of the disused railway tunnels exceptionally well and the narrow tunnels through which the characters ran from the horror which followed was making me feel a little claustrophobic which meant the filmmakers have achieved the feeling that the viewer was caught up in the panic and the mayhem as well. Excellent movie.
