If you are convinced you have not seen or read "Frankenstein" you are probably wrong. "Frankenstein" has been the blueprint for movies such as "Terminator", "Robocop", "Blade 2". More recently it formed the backbone of "Splice", which had nothing else. "Frankenstein" is interlaced with some of greatest moral quandaries that could ever face us, if we had dominance over death, who is we? and could we carry it's burden?

"The Frankenstein Syndrome" (2010) is a great chiller that serves itself onto your lap in nice cold calculating slices. All the actors give excellently believable performances and it was easy to see that they were pulled into the great script. The editing kept great fluid pace and I loved the longer still shots that were boiling with tension, forcing the viewer into the confrontational frame of the subject. I felt a little better when I was dragged along with the pace again but exhilarated a little at the same time and a little greyer around the temples!
This is an intelligent movie; a microcosmic study of a privately funded illegal stem cell research institute and those surrounding and involved in the quest for the cure of disease; and perhaps the door to immortality itself.
But those who search such lofts are often blind to the terrors that erupt from the bowels of the id; tearing through the surface of our reflections to drag us screaming back into the clutches of reality and our judgement, by our own hand.
A group of researchers conducting illegal stem cell research discover a cell anomaly that has the potential to regenerate dead tissue. Unable to conduct legal human trials, the researchers turn to corpses to test their serum.
The unusual character name "Agent Wollstonecraft" as well as his role as overseeing the chronicle of "what happened" is a direct reference to the original author of the novel "Frankenstein" whose full name was Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley.
