I saw this film recently partly based on the other review above. I did not agree with the general thrust of that review and so I've contributed one based on my own impressions. As a whodunit the culprit was fairly obvious taking away any possibility of plot tension. The general lack of action, drama (or blood) was actually disappointing.

The film did not hit any low notes to be fair and was watchable enough but it failed to hit any high ones (for me) either.It was well professionally acted and with workmanlike direction, the scenes were well shot including the slightly unpleasant one alluded to in the previous review but the only emotional connect I felt with the film was some twinges of embarrassment at a couple of points. Sunday evening filler.
I saw The Good Neighbors in Toronto. I uttered Oh My God, and Eeewww several times, covered my eyes and laughed so hard my row of seats was shaking. It's totally unexpected. Sex, Violence, Comedy,Murder- all rolled into one. Don't take your mother or your kids, but round up all of your friends and make sure you see this. It is a pisser. I was ashamed of myself for laughing but I couldn't help it. Everyone will be talking about this movie. It is funny and shocking. The audience gave it a standing ovation. It will make you re-think socializing with your neighbors. Is one of them a killer? There is an awful lot of blood. And yet, I laughed. Is something wrong with me? If so, I wasn't the only one laughing.
Away we go with a reasonably interesting murder mystery, interestingly enough set in Quebec.
Within 15 minutes, we have to be force fed that the "pathetic" "harmless" "awkward" "ever helpful" new tenant that wears ridiculous clothes, has pathetic friends and relatives, behaves like a fish out of water, but such a "good guy" is Jewish! Wow...as if we couldn't have guessed! Building wheelchair ramps out of the goodness of his heart etc. Some of this is absolutely vomit provoking.
