Another celebrity has been graced with the "makeover magic" of Dancing with the Stars and he comes in the form of Mario Lopez. The 33-year old actor, famed for his work as a high school jock A.C. Slater on Saved by the Bell, has just landed a sitcom entitled Eight Days a Week.
After Saved by the Bell, Lopez has enjoyed a career as a host of a variety of television contest shows, acquiring only a few acting projects such as a guest appearance on the medical drama Nip/Tuck and his short-lived stint on the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. This year, this native of San Diego, California, returns to a genre in which he is best known for - comedy. On CW's comedy pilot Eight Days a Week, he will be playing a man named Peter who is known as a slick New York executive. Eight Days a Week also stars Christina Milian as Olivia, Robert Richard as Sarge, Johnny Lewis as Ben, Anna Chlumsky as Riley and Rosa Blasi as Randi.
Lopez, who became a Dancing with the Stars contestant on its season three, isn't the only actor on Eight Days a Week to have been invited to participate on the popular celebrity dance competition. Grammy-award nominated R&B pop singer Christina Milian has also been asked to join Dancing with the Stars, but unlike Lopez, she has turned down the call.
Many believe that Dancing with the Stars is a show most beneficial for the "has been" of the showbiz industry. Milian, a 25-year old singer, actress, record producer and dancer, may not yet be suitable for the program since she appears to still have a bright singing career ahead of her and a promising acting career as well. Apart from her new sitcom Eight Days a Week, she is said to shoot three new movies this year.
