Entertainment: How to Create Easy Piano Lessons Through the use of Simplification

(Mon Jan 25th, 2010, by Dillon Hideki)

Teach yourself piano can often be a misunderstood phrase. Is the process of learning the piano something easy to accomplish? Overall, it can easily seem and feel like a complex undertaking for people that are new. However, if we put it through the process of simplification, it would seem far more attainable.

So how do we make something simple?

Normally a large overview of everything necessary for a particular task can only serve to complicate matters. Details can be a great thing, but for them to be effective, the right place and time is necessary. For us to achieve easy piano lessons while we're in this learning stage, it will be necessary to make the concepts as general as possible.

Let us use the correct posture while sitting at a piano for our example. Sitting in a certain way will allow us to be comfortable yet effective. It ranges from the proper seat position, the back, shoulders, elbows, the height, your hand, fingers, feet, knees, and a few other things. Each of these has specific details to be done.

This can be simplified by making the entire concept as general as possible. All we really need to know is when at a piano, we will want to have a good posture. For us to begin with the proper posture, we will now proceed to simplify the process.

First off we will want to sit a little more towards the front of the chair and keep a straight back. This is the only thing to worry about right now. It needs to be kept simple, practiced, and to get used to.

Once used to this and comfortable with it, we add a little more to our posture. Now, we will place our feet a little extended beyond our knees while keeping it flat on the ground. It should be noted that we should be accustomed and comfortable with the task in the paragraph prior to this by the time we get here. Our process of making things simple should be a little more clear at this point.

I could have said and described the proper position and angle for everything necessary regarding the proper posture while playing the piano. This would only serve to complicate the matter. It can make the task a bit difficult to execute and get started by trying to be too perfect.

Working on a step by step basis is also part of making beginning piano lessons be a possibility as we have done. The relatively small bits of information we apply with a simple step based approach will help us to learn and understand the information more effectively.

Once these simple things are done and practiced, we can gradually add the details and refine what we do. At this point, we are already used to the basics, and making use of the finer details becomes almost effortless to add to what we have already learned.

Becoming a REAL guitar hero

By: Davis Morris | 25/01/2010
One of the more incredible recent marketing phenomena has been the success of ‘guitar playing’ software, whereby the games user can feel as if he or she is playing one of the electric guitars in a band. Whilst this can be great fun it is surely no match for playing the real instrument. At Fret Music we would like to encourage everybody, including those who would claim not to be ‘musical’, to start playing real instruments, including electric guitars.
