Entertainment: Are Online Movies Legal to be Downloaded and Viewed?

(Thu Sep 2nd, 2010, by Stuart Michael M)

With so many online movies being offered by sites over the Internet, downloading and viewing it has become a popular thing to do by most people. There are some who questions whether this act is consider as legal. Although it is easily to be found and many seem to be doing it, there is no full certainty that it is lawful.

Most things posted or found over the Internet are hard to be measured with one fixed law or regulation. Since online movies could be found on cyberspace and are spread out all over the world, it is difficult to pinpoint on the legal issues about this. Different countries may their own regulations on such matters and it will depend on each individual to find it out, if he or she wants. Some sites do state details in disclaimers which are usually located below the page and in fine prints on whether the site is legal or not. The information may also explain whether downloading and viewing it will be lawful. Despite this, there are still arguments that those disclaimers are just there to con and mislead people. For one could not really tell from some printed claims. The best for an individual to do is to download and watch for free if it stated that it is allowed to do so. If it stated that it charges some price for the download or viewing, then one is advised to follow it.

In the end, it is all in the hands of each person. If one really wants to illegally get hold of some online movies, it is hard to stop such act especially when it is dealing with the Internet. For one could be straight in paying or acquiring the movies but later use it to make copies and distribute it illegally. In this case, the line of defining what exactly what is legal or not is really something difficult to do.
