Email Marketing is known to be a highly cost effective marketing tool. More and more business people use it today.
However, while it may appear to be cost effective, marketers are increasingly aware of a major drawback. There has been a lot of publicity about the possible adverse effects of opening email from unknown users. We've also been told how to combat these spam/advertising emails.
The email marketer has to overcome this resistance. Here are a few tips on how to do that:
DONT
When sending e-mail to your prospective clients, never include or use the word advertisement or ads on any part of your e-mail content more specifically on the subject line as this is foreseen to be a spamming e-mail by the spam blocking mechanism of the client's e-mail program.
ALWAYS
-- Always include in your email marketing campaign that the recipient has the option to opt out from receiving future emails from the sender. This will make it look that you are not forcing the email into his mailbox but rather it's an option that he or she has accepted. Besides, the law requires this optout facility.
-- When sending an email marketing campaign, always make sure that you properly outline the content of it. This will make sure that the email being sent is professionally and correctly written, so that it wont be treated as either junk mail or as an advertising email trying to "phish" for their personal information.
AVOID
To maintain professionalism in the email (if professionalism is the appropriate tone of voice for your clients), avoid using chat language or any informal language such as slang terms. Besides that, some of the folks who receive your emails may understand chat language or your slang terms.
