The traditional way to publish an ezine is as plain text. As all email programs can handle plaint text, that way, you know everybody who receives the ezine should be able to read it (provided you follow some formatting tips).

Of course plain text is none to exciting. You can't put in fancy layout, graphics, animations, etc.

If you want to overcome the limitations of plain text, you might consider publishing your newsletter as HTML. The trouble is - not everybody can read HTML email. So what could you do?

- You could consider publishing two versions of your newsletter - a text version and an HTML version (of course this is more work for you). When people subscribe to your newsletter, they will need to choose which version to subscribe to (if you're mailing list script can't handle this, simply set up two different mailing lists one for the text version, one for the HTML version).

- You could just publish the newsletter only as HTML. For people who can't receive HTML emails, you could post a copy of the HTML newsletter on your web site (which they can view with their web browser), and simply send them a notification when new editions are available to view online.

- You could just publish the newsletter only as plain text. For any bits that need fancy formatting, etc., give the information on your web site, and tell them the URL in your newsletter.
