Lately, there has been a lot of noise and hype over this co-registration. A lot of people are asking if it was a new technology.
Co-registration is not a new concept. It's a list building system the early internet marketers like Terry Dean and the late Corey Rudl have used to build massive opt in lists.
Basically, co-registration involves having your subscription offer listed alongside other publications' offers, so that when someone signs up to the other newsletters, he or she is given the option of signing up for yours as well without needing to re-enter his or her personal information.
Let me explain better.
If you sign up for free stuffs online, you must have come across a situation where you're asked if you're interested in similar free offers. You'll be asked to check the offer you're interested in. Once you check them and hit submit, you're automatically subscribed to multiple offers, usually newsletter.
Most of the co-reg services out there are not worth your time and money.Because of this, a lot of people do not make a success of co-registration.
There are some factors you should look out for in co-registration services. Here are some of them.
- A good co-registration service must allow you to create your own campaigns and ads. This is important because a lot of services will just sell to you a list of people they got from pre-checked services or heaven knows where and sell to you.
Don't listen to them even if they claim credibility. Your potential subscribers must be able to see your ad so they'll check it themselves.
- A good co-registration service must work with your autoresponder. This means that once your subscribers check your ad and hit submit, they must be automatically sent to your autoresponder to trigger your message sequence.
A lot of co-registration services will tell you they'll deliver your leads in a file so you can't import into your autoresponder. Don't fall for it. Not only is a lot of work, your autoresponder service might not be happy with you. They don't really encourage importation of leads.
As long as you have the above in mind, you will make a great success of your co-registration campaigns.
All the best.
