Education: The Use of a Tutor

(Wed May 11th, 2011, by Richard A. Manfredi)

At the moment schools across the country are facing major budget crises and many good teachers are losing their jobs. With fewer teachers there are more students bundled into each class room, and that can deny the students the personal one-on-one attention they need to succeed in an educational setting.Without this one-on-one attention children can become distant and not remain proactive with their education.Children that are not proactive will not see better test scores in their own classes or improve the SAT scores. The best thing an individual in this situation can do for their children is to try and find them a good tutor.Hiring a personal tutor can give a child that one-on-one attention they need to succeed, and it can help instill confidence in the subjects they are learning.

Personal tutoring will get a child involved in the learning process allowing them to have hands on interaction with the material they are studying. This type of learning is more effective for young children and can help the material they are learning stick even when they are off for spring or summer break.

Having a personal tutor can also make the learning experience fun for many children and instill confidence.  For example, a lot of children dislike math due to the confusing and complicated formulas they have to learn.  However, tutors who specialize in math often present these subjects in simple to remember and fun ways for kids.Algebra tutoring is then easy for a tutor to teach and the child to learn making them more confident in their ability to handle complex problems. This is just one of the many advantages tutors have over the traditional class room setting.

Tutors can be expensive, but there has been a rise in the competition amongst them causing prices overall to go down.Tutors can also be easily and safely found online for those looking at reputable sites. Many of these same sites provide video chat to still give children that one-on-one attention they need at this developing part of their lives.Great tutors can provide SAT test help and even help on college entrance exams and GREs. With the right tutor a child will improve their grades, get into a better college, and have the confidence to succeed in a well grounded future.
