I want to spend New Years Eve in DC for a few reasons. I am most of all interested in attending the New Years Gala Dinner Dance that Professionals in the City has been planning all year. Last year, the event was sponsored by Spumanti Champagne, and a Lady Gaga impersonator (Athena Reich) performed. There were over 100,000 people in attendance-- mostly singles! Food and alcohol is included in the price; from what I hear about last year, the three course meal includes appetizers, an entrée, and dessert. Everyone will also be able to participate in a huge speed dating event (the regular price of a speed dating event is normally $30). For $150, I think it will be the best party of the year for an unbeatable price.
Another reason I want to visit washington d.c. on New Years Eve is because I want to explore the city. There are so many museums (natural history, science, aviation, just to name a few). I would like to see the nation's capitol building up close as well as the Washington Monument. Right outside of Washington is Arlington, where Arlington National Cemetery is located. Thousands of United States soldiers and veterans who fought through wars are buried there. Aside from the historical and political attractions, D.C. has the best shopping malls and the most gourmet restaurants on the East Coast.
The third reason I want to spend New Years Eve in DC is because most of my family lives there. I currently reside in Hollywood, California because I go to school here, but I really miss the beautiful place where I was raised. Both of my parents were born and raised in Washington. My 3 brothers and 2 sisters live there as well as my 3 nieces, 4 nephews, 2 aunts, 2 uncles, 9 cousins, and my maternal and paternal grandparents. I have many friends there too as that is where I went to school from age 5 until age 19. I would love to spend the best holiday of the year with everyone I love at the hugest party of the year in the most exciting city in the United States of America!

WASHINGTON -- CBSNews.com has been building a growing audience, passing ABC News and Fox News in online traffic late last year. Part of the success around the network's growth has been by streaming programming on popular live portals with channels on Livestream and Ustream, in addition to the network's live player. Live programming engages an audience in a significant way, explains Mark Larkin, VP for CBSNews.com. He says growth has always come from the video centric redesign of the site. (03:02) |
