One of the most time consuming tasks of being an article ghost writer is looking for new jobs. Sometimes it seems effortless in finding them, and other times it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Here are 5 tips to make the search a little easier.
1. Have A Website
This may seem obvious, but having your own website where people can find you can be a great way to find new jobs. Invest the time and energy into putting content out on the web that has backlinks to your website so people can find you. You'd be surprised at how often people will contact you, if they know you exist. Not to mention it is an amazing feeling when clients contact you, instead of you having to chase them down!
2. Freelance Sites
There are many of these sites that an article ghost writer can use to find jobs. There is Elance.com, Guru.com, odesk.com, vworker.com, Freelancer.com, and several other good ones. These sites are a great resource to find work. However you do have to put in quite a bit of work to monitor them, and submit personalized bids for each new job that comes up. However, this is a great way to find repeat customers.
3. Gig Sites
More and more of these types of sites are popping up every day. Sites like Fiverr.com, Gigbucks.com, and Tenbux.com let you post things you're willing to do for a certain amount of money. While generally the amount you can get on these sites isn't a lot. What they are good for is generating leads for bigger, better paying jobs. Just be careful you don't fall into the trap of writing for $4-$5 per article forever.
4. Social Media
Use Facebook, Twitter, and whatever else you can to make profiles for your business. Link them all together with one of the many tools available these days. That way you can use one central hub to: tweet, post, comment, or whatever across all the different sites. This makes it easy to maintain them all without having to spend hours and hours posting on each site.
5. Forums
Search Google for different forums that your clients might hang out in. Become active and helpful on the forum. Have a link to your website in the signature. As you become more active, people will get curious as to who you are and they'll go to your website to find out about you. A great place to find people needing a ghostwriter is The Warrior Forum. It's a forum based around Internet marketing.
Finding new jobs is always the hardest part about being an article ghost writer. It does seem to take on a life of its own once you start getting the word out there about your services. Once the work starts coming it will take on a life of its own, and you'll be wondering if you can keep up with it all. Which is a great problem to have!
