Communication: Muhammad, when a Bedouin wanted to kill Him

(Fri Nov 5th, 2010, by Safaa Abdel-Aziz)

Muhammad, all respects, peace and blessings are upon him.

Muhammad never took revenge for his own sake

The Prophet Muhammad never took revenge for his own sake, but for the sake of Allah and Islam. His concept about the Personal Revenge is that it helps the Devil.

Muhammad, when a Bedouin wanted to kill Him

Jabir the son of Abdullah (one of Muhammad's friends) Narrated that the Prophet Muhammad and his friends were returning from Najd to Al-Medina. It was a very hot. The time of the afternoon nap overtook them when they were in a valley full of thorny trees. The Prophet Muhammad dismounted and the people dispersed amongst the thorny trees, seeking the shade of the trees.  The Prophet Muhammad took shelter under a big tree and hung his sword on it.

We slept (Jabir continues) for a while when the Prophet Muhammad suddenly called us, and we went to him, to find a Bedouin sitting with him.

The Prophet Muhammad said, "This Bedouin took my sword out of its sheath while I was asleep. When I woke up, the naked sword was in his hand and

he said to me, 'Who can save you from me,

I replied, 'Allah.'

Now here he is sitting."

The Prophet Muhammad did not punish him for that!

Now let us listen to the Bedouin to tell the story

O Bedouin: What happened?

The Bedouin said:

  • I never ever hated anyone in my life like Muhammad
  • I came on here for one reason
  • Just to kill Muhammad
  • I asked some people, where he is; I want to meet him personally
  • They told me that he is taking a nap under this tree.
  • I came on calmly, I found him sleeping and I saw his sword.
  • I took off the Prophet' sword.
  • Then the Prophet wake up and looked at me; he was lying on the ground.
  • I was holding the sword towards him and said:
  • "O Muhammad, 'Who can save you from me
  • The Prophet immediately said:"Allah"

When the Prophet Muhammad said that, the man was trembling and shaky, and the sword has dropped from his hand on the ground.

The Prophet Muhammad who was lying on the ground took the sword and stood up.

The man was scared to death and he tried to escape but he fell on the ground.

Now, the case was reversed, the man who wanted to kill the Prophet Muhammad was lying on the ground and Muhammad was standing up holding his sword in his hand.

Then Muhammad said to the man: 'Who can save you from me'

The man said:" your kind looking and your noble behavior"

Muhammad said: "Well! I have forgiven you"

And The Prophet Muhammad did not punish him for that; never took revenge for his own sake, but for the sake of Allah and Islam.
