Communication: How to Prepare Waste for Refuse Derived Fuel Process

(Thu May 5th, 2011, by Dea David)

The preparation for producing alternative energy is a meticulous task to undertake. Technologies that are involved are complexed to the point that they diminish carbon gases that is being released into the atmosphere. In the absence of the earth biodiversity man and other living species that relies on the planets survival will be extinct. Substituting traditional fuel to a newer form of subsidy is achieved through the refuse derived fuel process (RDF process).

Refuse derived fuel process has the ability to produce loose suitable type of fuel or pellet that is easier to handle and transport. These by-products allow electricity generators to run and produce power for large commercial scale. Countries pursuing the use of RDF process are looking forwards for a carbon neutral status in the coming years. Third world countries such as the Philippines find that the cost of the production of cleaner energy using this one of a king process is a lot cheaper than landfill disposal. Huge potential ROI's is visible and achieved in the upcoming years of production once operation of these plants commence.

Waste that enters material recovery facility is yielded towards the conversion of fuel or pellets. Wet and dry waste is separated to achieve fuel or pellet form. Materials containing high calorific value separated and screened for RDF treatment. Meanwhile, waste that posses the probability to be recycled and turned into newer materials are directed into the recycling section.

Feedstock (Waste) is pulverized upon passing under the eye of a checker who manually extracts materials that could damage the pellet making machinery. Workers secure this process to achieve the superior quality for producing RDF pellets out waste. Refuse will then pass screen trommels that would separate fine materials from those that are still too large for the refuse derived fuel processing. Once this is done, these materials will then enter the combustion chamber where it is turned into fuel pellets. Fuel is squeezed inside pellet forming tubes.

Fuel that is derived from the process will run fossil fuel and coal burners that would then produce clean and efficient energy. The continuous process of treating waste allows us to minimize significant amount of materials that are commonly dumped into sanitary landfills that emits hazardous gases into the atmosphere. By diminishing the major causes of climate change we allow our environment to recover from the battering that man has endowed to it over the years.
