The Wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridgeshire and Some of the British Fashion Designers of some of the more prominent guests.

I was one of a group of people in London's Hyde park for the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton and I was amazed at how many British fashion designers and milliners supplied the clothes and hats to all the guests including the Bride and groom. Below is just some of the British fashion designers:

The Groom wore the uniform of a Colonel in the Irish Guards designed on April 1st 1901 by Queen Victoria.

Kate Middleton's wedding dress and evening dress was designed by Sarah Burton of the house of Alexander McQueen.

Pippa Middleton's dress was also designed by Sarah Burton of the house of Alexander McQueen.

The bride's mother, Carole Middleton wore something blue – a wool robin's egg crepe coat dress by Catherine Walker. Her hat was designed by Jane Corbett.

Queen Elizabeth II wore a sun coloured dress by Angela Kelly with a matching hat, purse and her signature pearls.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie wore wild hats designed by Philip Treacy.

Beatrice chose a Valentino couture gown while Eugenie went with Vivienne Westwood.

Camilla Parker Bowles wore a champagne-colored silk dress by Anna Valentine, the same designer who created her own wedding dress for her 2005 marriage to Prince Charles.

The young bridesmaids all wore Nicki Macfarlene, a well known designer of Children's clothing:

Lady Louise Windsor, 7; William's first cousin and the daughter of his uncle Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex,

The Hon Margarita Armstrong-Jones, 8;William's second cousin,

Eliza Lopes, 3, granddaughter of Prince Charles' wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and Gace van Cutsem, 3, godchild of Prince William.

Elton John chose British designer Richard James of Savile Row for his morning suit, with David Furnish in a Henry Poole outfit.

Princess Anne chose a lilac and lime green floral coat, lilac plain dress and hat. Her daughter Zara Phillips wore a pewter, bow-back, mandarin-collar dress coat by Paul Costelloe.

Sophie Wessex had her dress designed by couturier Bruce Oldfield's bridal salon.

Viscountess Serena Linley will wear a Roland Mouret dress, which she will team with an Anya Hindmarch clutch, Manolo Blahnik shoes and a hat created by Stephen Jones.

The dress worn by Victoria Beckham was of her own design.

Holly Branson, a good friend of Catherine and William, wore a sleeveless lace dress by Irwin & Jordan.

Navy was a popular colour. Knight of the Garter Rowan Atkinson's wife, Sunetra, chose it for a belted suit with clutch bag and pink floral Jane Taylor hat. Society girl Tara Palmer Tomkinson was resplendent in a royal blue dress by Deborah Milner with studded peeptoe slingbacks in the same shade by Nicholas Kirkwood. She also wore a Treacy hat.

Prime Minister's wife Samantha Cameron chose a headpiece and necklace by Erickson Beamon for Erdem and teamed them with an elegant teal £495 dress by Burberry London and £75 Aldo shoes.

The lion's share of hats were by Philip Treacy, with 36 creations, and Stephen Jones, with 12.

The Chinese call Britain 'The Island of Hero's' which I think sums up what we British are all about. We British are inquisitive and competitive and are always looking over the horizon to the next adventure and discovery.
